India

One thing is certain... This WC has been the most entertaining WC i've ever seen. Already so many great matches with a couple of upsets.

I dont want India to face pakistan in quaterfinals. They are so unpredictable. :p

I wont mind it. In fact I am now braced for any team to face us in the QF. For me, India reaching the final is the ultimate result I want to see. With this bowling attack, if we reach the final, we would have achieved a really good enough result.

Only Group B has been so entertaining. Group A is bland.

----------

If Australia beat Pakistan, Sri Lanka beat NZ and India beat West Indies. India end up at 2nd in Group B and New Zealand end up 3rd in Group A. India would be hoping for this to happen :p

Assuming SA beat Bangladesh too. If SA lose to Bangladesh, India end up as No.1 in the group stage (assuming we win against WI)

Bangladesh beating SAF is going to be tough to digest. Plus, the Africans will be looking to avenge their 2007 defeat to the same team.

Btw, the Time of India reported a spat between Dhoni and Srikanth over the team selection. Srikant reportedly wanted Dhoni to give R Ashwin a chance and he also spent a long time chatting with the bowlers. I do really hope that we pull up our socks, else its Bye- Bye !

In toher news, Ottis Gibson says that the Windies can surprise India and they need to put up 400 on board. Easy task given that they are well-versed with the conditions and our shoddy bowling should help them do the needful. :D

We just need to get Darren and Gayle out cheaply. Rest of them would surrender to our spin ;)

R Ashwin certain to play. So is Suresh Raina :yes

Yusuf will sit out. This is great. Never wanted the 'one-match wonder' in the team anyway.

I would prefer the following Lineup against the WI

1.Virender Sehwag

2.Sachin Tendulkar

3.Virat Kohli / G.Gambhir

4.MS Dhoni

5.Yuvraj Singh

6.Suresh Raina

7.Harbhajan Singh

8.R Ashwin

9.Zaheer Khan

10.Sreesanth

11.Munaf Patel

I personally feel that Dhoni prefers this lineup because

1. Our opening stand is very good they are scoring at an AVG : 70 - 80 Runs for the opening pair

2. Even tough our middle order batting has a huge collapse yet we are scoring at a good pace

3. Oppositions are not attacking the front line blower & spinner (Zax & Bhaji) and the part timer (Yuvi) and depending to score on the other low confidence bowlers

4. Since the other bowlers like A.Nehara & P.Chawla being hit for runs , its best to opt for M.Patel and S.Sreesranth Reason M.Patel bowled in good areas and S.Sreesanth has the capacity as a good com backer

5. India should realize that its better to Chase / Restrict the opposition for a low score (250 - 270 In dry Pitche as Australia & Newzealand have done) and Chase down the target quickly with the strong 6 men :thumbs

^ I don't think Dhoni would ever try playing with 5 bowlers. He doesn't even give his main bowlers full quota of overs. He likes playing around with part-timers like Yuvraj and now with Raina in he might use him too. Ashwin,Harbhajan, Zak and Sree/Munaf is the way to go imo. I hope Gambhir is rested, Virat adds a lot to our fielding.

I am expecting to see Raina and Ashwin in the XI for Virat and Piyush. Sreesanth may also get a chance, replacing Nehra.

Only change I see happening is Ashwin in for Nehra. If Sehwag is out like Cricinfo says he might be (I will be really disappointed) then Raina will come in obviously, Gambhir will open, Virat at 3 etc.

^I think that is quite possible, India are virtually in and Dhoni may give Sehwag rest so that he can recover quickly.

If Pakistan win today. That leaves India facing either Sri Lanka or Australia in Quarter finals. Based on current form I think India would fancy facing Australia.

I don't want to see Sehwag out of the match, Sachin will surpass him in runs if he (Sehwag) doesn't plays and I can't see that happen!

Moreover, matches played on the day of Holi has always been lucky for Viru.
