Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Apparently MSD is having back pains but will continue to play according to post match comments put up by cricbuzz.

Hope he doesn't injure it too much. Still few games left in ipl right now

Knowing MS, he will play right through all of it. In such a case, hope the top order batsmen who come before him, continue to do the bulk of the scoring like they're doing right now. CSK have been fortunate so far that the top order has mostly fired for them in this season (including Suresh Raina who has had 2-3 good scores). MS is playing with a lot more freedom this season because the base is being setup well by the top order, including Watson.

There is something about Dhoni in this IPL that says, "enough is enough". I think he has gotten fed up with all the talk of him being a "spent force" and is hell bent on proving his critics wrong. Even his post match interviews have been nothing but that. I haven't watched his batting much but I wonder if he somehow has managed to overcome his shortcomings. If I'm not wrong, bowling away from his body was something that troubled him in the past.

It augurs well for the Indian team though with the WC coming up soon. It almost feels like he has rolled back in time.

Having watched all CSK's games live (as in streaming), I can definitely say "bowling away from his body" still troubles MSD (as shown in that game against Punjab where Mohit successfully defended that last over to deny MSD a win by just 4 runs). But there seems to be a significant change in the way Dhoni is now able to size up bowlers and get underneath the balls to dispatch them to the stands. Earlier, his bat never seemed to come down in time to get underneath the ball and control the distance where the ball travels. This season, he seems to have mostly fixed that issue. From what I've seen of his batting this season, there surely seems to be positive signs as far as India is concerned. An in-form Dhoni can transform India's chances dramatically for the WC.

Lol WTF did Kohli do, previous ball you just lost Mandeep and now Kohli gone too! Poor judgment

And Washington departs, this is just poor batting and RCB has thrown it away.

Mitch what a legend 10 runs 3 over and still managed to finish with 34 runs from 4 overs.:D:D

Good finish by Colin, that was some might blows and 24 runs are 10 more for MI to chase. Might as well be the difference.

That was some finish by RCB, this is going to be a tough chase but I am backing Mumbai here.

Brilliant bowling from Umesh Yadav yet again. He has looked really good this season. He has put RCB in the driver's seat here. He needs some seriously good backup here. RCB are in with a serious shout.

And Rohit isn't overrated?
In test matches? Oh yes he is overrated, in ODIs and T20s? Nope. He is better then most of the Australian batsman to be honest ;)

You joking? The only Indian batsman better than any of our batsman in limited overs cricket is Kohli. From the odi series I watched with India and South Africa, I can see that he is weak to any team with a good quality attack and has struggled to show form in recent time. As a fan of KXIP, I would like to see KL Rahul take his position in all forms of cricket as he is consistent and scores runs especially when needed.

This game is very much reminiscent to that of last year's game between the same two team at the same venue where Badree picked up hattrick in the 2nd over but Royal Chokers still managed to choke. With RCB death bowling woes the match is very much in favor of MI at the moment.

You joking right? Apart from Warner and Steven Smith, Aussies do not have one settled batsman playing pst Haydos, Gilly and Ponting era. I would agree Bailey was good but all others have been downright mediocre. India has better batsman in terms of openers in Dhawan, Rahul and Sharma, middle order in Kohli and Dhoni. I will agree India do not have great finishers but hey so do the Aussies. So your line of the only batsman better than any of yours is KOHLI is absolutely wrong. But hey you are entitled to your opinion and so do I.

Both the Kiwis players won the game for RCB. CDG and Southee, :clap

Warner and Finch are much better than Sharma and Dhawan. Sharma is not consistent.
Kohli I admit is a better limited overs player than Smith.
Stoinis and Marsh and much better allrounders and finishers than Indias batsman. Pandya is a flop
Starc Cummins Tye Hazlewood are better bowlers than any pace bowler in Indias line up probably since 2007. Bumrah is good and Bhuvi averages almost 40
Chahal and Kuldeep are better spinners though.
Time for Dhoni to throw in the towel and give someone else a chance too.
