Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Rishabh Pant is some talent. Right now I think he's India's best choice for no. 4 in limited overs. Want to see him play a in CWC 19.

I think, he can open the innings with KL Rahul..but not now. Karthick is obvious choice for no 4. CWC 19 team will be same as CT 17.

It annoys me seeing all these people comparing Shaw to Tendulkar. With all this talk, this only puts so much pressure on him to perform.

He does seems like a good player, but in order to get the best out of him we shouldn't start comparing him to greats like Tendulkar and Lara. But please. A couple of good innings in the IPL doesn't mean he should be compared to Sachin. That's just ridiculous. He has a bright future but if there's so much hype surrounding him it's worrying if his form deteriorates because of the high expectations people expect him to fulfill.

I believe Sachin had similar talks (comparing him to Gavaskar, Richards, etc.). Its dependent on how you soak up the pressure and not let it affect you. Sachin was a huge example of how one can absorb the pressure and direct it in the right way. Coming from the same city, I hope Prithvi Shaw can do the same. You can't stop people from talking. You can channel it in the right way, though.

If he has to play for India, I really hope he fixes his balance issue. He has already been called out for it in this IPL and since IPL is followed by almost everyone, his 'balance when batting' issue has become a big topic for discussion. As a result of that, he looks very ugly while batting and I don't have much hopes on him succeeding at the highest level if he continues to march along with that issue.

Tbh Prithvi Shaw the more I see of him the more it reminds me of Sehwag rather than Tendulkar. Strong hand eye coordination and a big gap between the bat and the pad...

Thank goodness I was like I am the only one who feels like that!

KKR already on the front foot here, winning the toss and bowling first! Last game, CSK beat them by chasing. With the likes of Russell, Karthik, Lynn, Narine, Uthappa in their lineup, they should be able to chase even steep totals. And they get first use of the pitch for their bowlers.

CSK need a really big score, with the kind of bowling they have!

Why is Jadeja still in the team for CSK? Is hs the supertistion the Dhoni believes in and wants him to play every single fecking time?

Trust @SaiSrini to put the anti-jinx in early whenever CSK play. On a serious note, this logic defying strategy of batting Jadeja ahead of Bravo is beyond me. Specially when setting totals.

I think CSK have the runs on the board. Seeing the way their innings went in the end, it was a huge statement that KKR bowled their spinners for the last 3 overs. And CSK struggled big time against the spinners. We have 3 spinners (Jadeja/Bhajji/Karn; Raina can also bowl some). And also as Rayudu said in the post innings interview, he was extremely surprised to see the pitch stop on the batsmen that much. He even said that CSK batted really well to get that many runs on such a pitch.

I believe KKR have some chase here. CSK need to take the inputs from their innings and bowl very slow and use their spinners to the maximum (and Raina too). I wouldn't bowl Asif much. Bravo needs to bring out his slower ones to full effect. If dew does not play a part here, I think CSK are very much in this.

Ah... Dont worry! I am actually happy now with the score, after seeing the pitch. Initially it was said to be a belter. But the way the pacers fared and the spinners fared, I think we have the runs.

Wow! Jadeja's cricket is really going down hill. Poor with the bat, doing nothing with the ball and what I have never seen from him before, dropping catches.

Thumping! Earlier, Dhoni in his post match interviews said "well with this fielding lineup, we have to work doubly hard". Now he is consistently saying the same of the bowling lineup. The batsmen of CSK and luck (by the major factor) have kept CSK close to the top of the pile so far. But according to me with NO ANTI-JINX intentions whatsoever, this is just a terrible terrible terrible squad that CSK have picked at the auctions, and that too with not using 6.5 crores that they still had left in their kitty. Dhoni and the respect he has for his spin attack, is surely extremely worrying signs. Tells you that you cannot go into an auction and pick a side for just your home conditions. You pick a balanced side for all conditions.

If CSK somehow even get to the final, it would be a fluke for them. So disappointed that I have to support such a side in this IPL :mad:facepalm:(

P.s: How many games has it been where Dhoni has given almost no overs to either Jadeja or Karn? Jadeja rarely bowled initially. Now its happening with Karn Sharma. And David Willey is sitting in the dugout, who is said to be a very good T20 player.

I think Dhoni is outdoing himself. There's no reason for Billings to be benched for Faf. Also, I would play Willey as the first seamer for you guys. If you're disappointed supporting CSK who have made the playoff's at a strike rate of 100% you're really greedy. Try RCB for a season!

Can CSK somehow try and get T Natarajan and M Ashwin from RCB over the mid-season transfer window? The wonder here is who do you give in return? Natarajan is a good left arm quick who is being benched by RCB. CSK should have gone for him. I don't think they even bid for him. M Ashwin is also a good leggie. He got 2 wkts in the game he played for RCB few matches back.

If the mid-season transfer window does not require a "give a player in return" policy, CSK should try to get T Natarajan and M Ashwin, who are not being used by RCB.

He is there in the hope that he will come good one day. The thing is, CSK have been winning games which has allowed Dhoni to give Jadeja the long rope that he has got till now.

I concur. I think similarly, W.Saha is enjoying his extended stay in SRH.
