Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Seems highly contradictory to me.

Maybe a lesson in don't judge people too quickly?

And I'm really sorry to hurt your feelings pertaining to the unfair comments on your friend. But if someone (Ashwin) does something like that, widely acknowledged by the cricketing world as within the laws but not the spirit and a person is going to empower them ("More power to him") then it all becomes a bit sour. I have seen how your good friend reacts when a Kohli simply gives a few send off's to a few batters.

Lol I don't get riled up over cricket discussions so don't worry you haven't hurt my "feelings". I have chatted with him probably once or twice in my time here on non-cricket things and if that qualifies as a friend, sure he is my friend.

Anyways, I don't think this argument is going anywhere so I guess we will just move it back to cricket.

I pray that CSK does not do all this work, only to slip in the final hurdle. They have been finding unlikely winners in every game. Today, Raina and Jadeja took them through comfortably.

Was really really hoping for Raina to come good soon. He had his bunch of 30's early in the tournament, but he was just too wayward and swiping at deliveries too often and was not having the impact he can have. Today, he played responsibly (for the most part) and he valued a long innings than a cameo. Raina in form, always delights CSK fans. Jaddu finally showed his value with the bat with a good finishing innings. TBH, I thought Tahir did all the groundwork and kept KKR to a total that was achievable despite loss of big wickets. I wish Dhoni though, finds a way out against Narine. He has been unusually bad against Narine. Not a single boundary so far against Narine, and as expected, got out to Narine.

One more win and CSK nail their playoff spot. With 6 games to go for CSK, I would hope they get 3 more wins and nail the Top 2 spot. This is an unusual feeling for long time CSK fans, who have known CSK to dash their way to the playoffs, but this season and last season, they've waltzed in comfortably and look primed for a Top 2 finish.

This is some bowling from Imran Tahir. He always runs in and flights the ball and bowls with such passion. He is a kind of bowler who doesn't require turning pitches to turn the ball. It's not just about his wrists but it's about his run-up. His run-up helps him turn the ball more than his wrists as he uses his entire body to give the ball the turn he wants. People will always see him bowling and they might feel that this is the ball that I could hit out of the park and in the process the batsman have always made a mess out of it. That is what flight does to you. I think if spin bowlers these days try to flight the ball more we might see them dominate this game. Every young spinner today should be encouraged to bowl flighted deliveries and that can make them real wicket-takers in this modern day Cricket[DOUBLEPOST=1555243591][/DOUBLEPOST]Now KKR needs a big over to finish things off

True that! Tahir has been superb so far for CSK this season. After a lacklustre season in 2018, Tahir has truly turned things around. He did not even get enough games last season due to his uneven form.

Is it because of WC selection squad that Khaleel Ahmed playing today? Even Karthik batted uo the order today.

Its obvious that WC selection is on most Indian players minds and it has been dictating choices in the last week's games this IPL. Suddenly the players in contention come into form just in time when the WC squad is about to be picked. I am not saying its unethical or unfair, but it's natural that people get switched on a lot more when they know that they could make a case for themselves to get selected for the biggest tournament in the sport of cricket.

I like how Khaleel has bowled so far. But I think only 3 pacers should go to England and Khaleel should be the first standby in case one of the frontline 3 gets injured.

What do you think about Deepak Chahar ? I seem to like the way he bowls with the new ball and is improving with the old ball as well[DOUBLEPOST=1555254341][/DOUBLEPOST]Not for the 15 but outside of it

Not a bad idea. I would still have Khaleel as the first option in the standby list because of his left arm variation. Maybe Chahar can be the second standby option since he has more control than Umesh.

But somewhere I feel BCCI selectors are a bunch of fools and they select players on the basis of favouritism of the Captain and out of political hysteria and on the basis of region at times. You would find most of the players belong to well-known domestic teams these days and such situations used to be in the 90s I think. So we are going behind in this thing now. I would want Shankar in the squad for WC but I believe they would select Rayudu. I have a very strong belief that they are going to go with Rayudu for sure :rolleyes

Khaleel was injured that's why he wasn't playing. He got fit and good to see him in the line-up straight away replacing overrated Siddharth Kaul.

Morris has been very disappointing so far for Delhi. He hasn't contributed at all with the bat and has been average with the ball. Also good to see Tewatia finally being dropped. I don't know why he plays so many matches even though he hasn't done anything worthwhile.

No issues from Khaleel tbh looks a promising and exciting aspect but Kaul is a good one too the problem is he has overdone the knuckle ball similar to what happened with Mohit Sharma where batsman has found a way to counter his back of the hand slower deliveries. Also Kaul bowled some decent yorkers at the death but just like Bhuvi struggled to find any form this season and has been horrible to say the least for SRH this year.
