Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Geez! We Indians need to get over this obsession of three figure mark. There was a leggie bowling to a left lander and considering how Delhi managed to choke in the couple of games it was wiser to finish the match asap and not take it to the last over.

He could've tried taking a single[DOUBLEPOST=1555164810][/DOUBLEPOST]I think Mumbai tried everything to lose the match. Half-volleys, full-tosses, dropped catches, poor bowling, awkward Captaincy. In all everything cost them the match. This match was very much like the ones the played last year. Mumbai becoming the new chokers now :facepalm

Chokers? RR looked like the guys who choked to me. MI did most things right, and the game was simply won by an outstanding innings. It's not always about being critical of the losing side. Perhaps, my only criticism of MI would be that off Pollard. He won them a game they shouldn't have won and today he cost them one by snoozing during launch phase. It amazes me how teams don't realise that batters who need some time to launch are best used before over 13. Pollard should either have batted where SKY did or after Pandya (H).

Just see the shots Buttler hit off Joseph and how he annulled Chahar. They weren't bad balls, just brilliant batsmanship.

If we talk about last season they choked in every match they lost. And perhaps yes Rajasthan choked but at later stage MI had almost won the game but they still gave it away. Had Bumrah not bowled that length ball to Gopal which costed a boundary and instead bowled that yorker RR were in big trouble and also 2 catches of Gopal were dropped by Ishan Kishan and SKY respectively. And Rohit as Captain should've told Bumrah to stick with yorkers and also Bumrah should've opened the bowling considering Buttler has struggled against Bumrah in the past and also Bumrah wouldn't have let Rahane rotate the strike and eventually would've got out trying to force the scoring.[DOUBLEPOST=1555168337][/DOUBLEPOST]In all it was a poor effort from MI because they had the score to defend and that too against a team at the bottom of the table

Why is the same squad being played all over again? Why Siraj again in the squad? The likes of Sundar, Gurkeerat, Khejorliya etc. are just warming the bench.

Pawan Negi, perhaps the biggest positive in the RCB squad in the last two games has not bowled an over. Just because a left hander is batting! Classic Kohli!

2nd or the 3rd catch Kohli has dropped this IPL .

With the advancement of cricket , we are the seeing the vice-versa thing with catches . On one hand , we see one-handed catches caught which should've been dropped .

And the increase in dropping is regular .

Gayle not on the field again. And then some hypocrites here will pass moral science lessons on laws of the game..

I have always said this about Kohli. He drops pretty easy catches and that too very regularly, for a very good fielder. I still remember him dropping a very easy catch of Brendon McCullum in the Wellington test match in 2014 and then McCullum went on to score 300.

Sam Curran had one over and Ashwin goes to Sarfaraz who has never bowled in IPL for the final over where RCB needed 6.. well done :clap. RCB can finally breathe a sigh of relief with this victory. Happy ABD and Kohli are on winning side.

I guess people desperately want to see Dhoni fall down for his ‘highly respected perch of greatness’ that they’ve been calling for Dhoni to be banned a few games. Stems from jealousy and pure ‘negative drama fantasy’ instincts that certain people have on Dhoni.

This is his first offense in a lifetime. He was rightly given a Level 2 and fined. If he does again, it’ll obviously go to Level 4 and suspensions will happen. But people know he won’t do this again and so they want the punishment to happen now itself (for their fun sake)[DOUBLEPOST=1555179164][/DOUBLEPOST]

That said to the audience that KXIP gave up on the game. That’s bad captaincy from Ashwin. In a T20 game, you never give up till the last bell is bowled because weird things happen.

Ashwin is tactically very good and a lot of people underestimate his captaincy but sometimes he gets a bit too funky. That is where I think having someone like Mike Hesson as a coach benefits him. However, as we saw there in the last over, he got a little too funky and went with Sarfaraz rather than Curran.

And Kohli has just won the IPL!
His reaction did seem like one but quite understandable. He has all the resource, a great team but losing 6 matches in a low can frustrate anyone.

I think he has been outstanding as captain. The mankad, the dead ball overthrow claim for four, not fielding Sarfaraz and then Gayle shows the leader he is. The best thing he has done is bowl most of his overs when the pressure is most. What is even more inspiring is the choice of Varun Chakravarty being paid 8.5 crores and having played one game. I also think the move to bowl Sarfaraz today is almost identical to the one of Dhoni in the 2007 World Cup to bowl Joginder Sharma. He was just unlucky that Sam Curran couldn't finish off. The master stroke was bowling Viljoen in the middle against Mumbai and bowling Curran in the death. True leader! :thumbs

It's bloody unfortunate he won't be in the World Cup squad. It'll be even worse if India opt for an off spinner and it's a 38 year old Harbhajan Singh who has been half the bowler Ashwin is!
