Indian Premier League - General Discussion

We are repeating our 10 year back history of losing 8 matches in row. We are nothing but out of the tournament. This is a poor and disappointing tournament for us. We need to focus next on getting a solid top order batsman, a solid fast bowler and someone who will be a good spinner.

That Blue Jersey Riyan Parag wearing in the above pic should have been the official one this year instead of the ugly Pink ones.

As I said earlier KKR won't be making playoffs if they depend only on a handful of players. So far it is being proved by their performance

I don't think there is anything wrong in the quality of spinners which KKR has..... Infact their spinning options are the best among all 8 teams followed by CSK and SRH. So far the performance of SRH spinners is as dissapointing as KKR. But I think CSK spinners performance is a bit enhanced due to the pitch that they get at home and their legendary Captain

I was so disappointed to see Riyan Prayag get out in the manner he did :facepalm. I felt for that guy because he played so well under pressure and it would've been so good to see him finish the match for his team. I think if Gowtham was there was for RR yesterday things would've seemed a bit better for them. Anyways it was a good finish from Jofra Archer in his last match of IPL this season

That's damn awesome!

6 losses in a row now for KKR - their weakness are horribly exposed this year over reliance on couple of players and just too much inexperience in the squad.

It's their fast bowling. I genuinely feel they're a really good side. Their gun Indian quicks are injured and like Delhi, their home wicket does not suit them. I said it at the time of the auction, and I will say it again- Chris Lynn is not a 10 crore purse player. I would only shell out that kind of money on a player as a franchise owner 1) Indian International, 2) International gun for all conditions 3) A gun all rounder, even if in certain conditions be it Indian/International.

Just to put it out there- As far as I am aware, only Warner, Steve Smith and AB de Villiers get more money than him. Pardon me on my lack of info about Smith because the contract might have changed on him after his ban and lack of history with the franchise. Now, even if we keep him in the frame, he's essentially not half the batter any of these 3 are and not a quarter of Warner or AB. In my opinion, apart from these two who have regularly piled on runs season after season and have the game to decimate any attack on any wicket, no one should hold your purse hostage for 12.5%. It is near criminal. The other example of this is Kohli. He is being paid an extra 2-2.5 crores and I see nothing that validates the same over a Dhoni or Rohit. In fact, he should harm the purse less if he's captain.

Again, I have no issue with the money the players make, but some lopsided deals create imbalance in a franchise. Lynn was one such acquisition. He's good, but not worth 12.5% of the total purse. The less said about Unadkat, the better.

You forgot Ben Stokes who is currently the most expensive player in IPL

Absolute bollocks!! What wrong has N Jagadeesan done that he doesn't get to play even when MS Dhoni is not playing? Ambati Rayudu is the makeshift keeper today? Total rubbish this!! I don't care if CSK win today, but this is rubbish. This is how CSK treated Baba Aparajith (he was touted to be a very promising allrounder, and he never got a single game with CSK and he is not even in an IPL team now)

Dont they want to groom somebody for the future when MSD gets to a place where he can't play any cricket anymore? And I am not even going to talk about CSK's disregard for local talent (Murali Vijay is the first local player to play for CSK today since..... last year when the same Murali Vijay played against KXIP in Dharmashala in IPL 2018)

I hope Raina is lucky enough to win this game. I dont rate his captaincy well enough at all. I hope CSK find a proper successor to Dhoni the captain in the upcoming seasons (and for Dhoni the keeper/batsman). It's going to be a herculean task.

I also said that during last years auction that KKR are set to be doomed. They built the squad around Mitchell Starc bought him for what 12 cr or something and uncapped U19 quick young bowlers that willl suit the new Eden deck but what happened was Starc ruled out which was expected and U19 quicks got injured. So they lacked bowlers who can wickets upfront as well as death but didn't happen. Batting is good and clicked very well last time as well but this around the team was heavily dependent on one man that is Dre Russell - the 3 games that KKR won this are all because of Russell's blinder and 1 against RR was perhaps their best performance in the tournament. The likes of Gill,Rana and even Rinku Singh are great talent but they need someone stable at the top - Lynn and Narine are go big or go nothing and the opposition have found a way out to keep them quiet and Dinesh Karthik coming way too lower down order he should batting at 4 like he did in the last game. And lastly Kuldeep's failure this season made their bowling looked even worse.

If there is one team that is capable of beating CSK in Chennai, its Mumbai Indians and we've made it a lot more easier for them by not playing MSD and Jadeja. Even though we're chasing here, it's going to be very hard if MI put up a good score.

That was a top top Knock from Rohit Sharma on a square turner could well prove to the difference between both sides.

Didn't cover the match so far but can someone tell that is the pitch spinning that much or MI have batted poorly ?

The average score batting first on this pitch is around mid 130s. So I reckon it's an above par total. In fact, without Dhoni I think it's enough even though there is Bravo and Santner (decent batsman) to follow.
