It's their fast bowling. I genuinely feel they're a really good side. Their gun Indian quicks are injured and like Delhi, their home wicket does not suit them. I said it at the time of the auction, and I will say it again- Chris Lynn is not a 10 crore purse player. I would only shell out that kind of money on a player as a franchise owner 1) Indian International, 2) International gun for all conditions 3) A gun all rounder, even if in certain conditions be it Indian/International.
Just to put it out there- As far as I am aware, only Warner, Steve Smith and AB de Villiers get more money than him. Pardon me on my lack of info about Smith because the contract might have changed on him after his ban and lack of history with the franchise. Now, even if we keep him in the frame, he's essentially not half the batter any of these 3 are and not a quarter of Warner or AB. In my opinion, apart from these two who have regularly piled on runs season after season and have the game to decimate any attack on any wicket, no one should hold your purse hostage for 12.5%. It is near criminal. The other example of this is Kohli. He is being paid an extra 2-2.5 crores and I see nothing that validates the same over a Dhoni or Rohit. In fact, he should harm the purse less if he's captain.
Again, I have no issue with the money the players make, but some lopsided deals create imbalance in a franchise. Lynn was one such acquisition. He's good, but not worth 12.5% of the total purse. The less said about Unadkat, the better.
