Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Didn't cover the match so far but can someone tell that is the pitch spinning that much or MI have batted poorly ?
Both - the ball has been spinning turning square but MI batted superbly as well started by Rohit Sharma with a bit of help from Lewis initially and at the end Hardik and Pollard made sure that their Bravo hammering from last match continues.

Horrible. CSK's batting needs a major overhaul. Without Dhoni, they look crap! I strongly believe that Suresh Raina needs a demotion on his batting spot. The current Raina is not fit anymore to be the No. 3. I think that should go to either Rayudu or groom someone like a Dhruv Shorey. Raina should be moved down the order to No. 5 or 6 where he used to bat in his early days for India.

Vijay with that good innings, should stay in for sometime. That means, either of Jadhav or Rayudu gets the drop. I would drop Jadhav, who has not done anything of note this season.

The average score batting first on this pitch is around mid 130s. So I reckon it's an above par total. In fact, without Dhoni I think it's enough even though there is Bravo and Santner (decent batsman) to follow.

I also know that but I hadn't seen the 1st innings so I just asked. But anyways thanks for informing. It was a good win for MI

It's annoying to see that whenever Warner's wicket falls all the good work done before hand is undone and everything slows down :facepalm. Sunrisers were poor in the last few overs or so, now looking like they'll get 160 when before it looked like they were capable of getting 180-190.

Vijay Shankar ahead of Rishabh Pant is looking like a pretty daft move in terms of WC selection at this point of time.

Andre Russell has been taking a lot of swipes at the KKR management and DK as a leader. They need to shut him up in press conferences.

Manish Pandey coming into form at a perfect time for Sunrisers. They needed someone to step up in the absence of Bairstow and he has shown in the last 2 matches that he is capable to play that role. However, it will be even more difficult for them once Warner leaves since no one else had made runs for them. Williamson hasn't looked that good so far in the couple of matches that he has played. Their middle order is pretty shaky so it will be interesting to see if they can still make the playoffs.

If RCB and KKR wins today then the points table will look like

1. CSK-16
2. MI-14
3. DC-14
4. SRH-10
5. KXIP-10
6. RR-10
7. KKR-10
8. RCB-10

And there begins the real race for Playoffs !!!!

I feel like anything under 190-200 RCB will chase it down. Kohli definitely looks an improved leader from his body language after those 6 consecutive loses.

Virat Kohli seemed to have given tips to Rishabh Pant on how to take a catch behind the wicket. Lol!

Just saw a poster somewhere in the crowd at the start of the match

“This is not Eden Gardens
This is Rohit Gardens"

True that, this is his ground and he owes this ground. There are few points which justifies it

1. He made his 1st IPL 100 at this ground
2. He won his maiden IPL title as Captain on this ground
3. He made his Test debut at this ground
4. He made his maiden Test 100 at this ground
5. He made his highest Test score at this ground
6. He made his highest ODI score at this ground
7. He made his highest score as an IPL Captain at this ground
8. He won his 2nd IPL title on this ground
9. He has won 4 Man of the match awards on this ground

What a carnage this is! Gill and Russel were absolute beast, now if Rohit goes carnage and yet MI loose I will be happy.
