Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Sometimes I feel for Pollard. He is in such good form and still batting at 6. He needs to get atleast 8-10 overs. I think he should be playing at 4

I think De Kock is the ideal replacement that Mumbai have got. He is probably the best opener for them after Sachin Tendulkar and Lendl Simmons. Even Shikhar Dhawan did well for MI but they didn't felt the need to retain him at that time. I will be very happy if De Kock stays with MI for next 3-4 years atleast. This guy is really talented and full of potential !!!!

MI qualify and have a shot at the Top 2 if they win their last game. Even if they don't win their last game, they could be in Top 2 if DC lose to RR. And MI play the last game of the league, which gives them the luxury of exactly knowing what to do, something which CSK took advantage of in the early years of IPL when they often used to dash hard towards the playoff spot.

Wondering why did CSK always play against KXIP as their last league game? Its been happening almost every year since that Dharmashala game where Dhoni did that famous "jaw punch" after dismantling Irfan Pathan in the last over (duh?). Maybe the IPL organizers purposely put it that way :D

I wish DK finds a way to get to CSK next year. Seeing the social media discussions and the analysis right now, it looks like DK is not being respected on the KKR side. Adding fire to it was Russell's comments recently about "bad decision making" in the KKR camp.

KKR should find a new leader and hope CSK try their best next year to get DK. DK had expressed interest few years back to play for CSK (being his home state's franchise). And it would be amazing for him to be on CSK side with MS Dhoni likely on his last legs for IPL. And same thing with Washington Sundar too. Give that guy to us since you're almost not using him. With a 39 and 40 year old spinner in CSK (Harbhajan and Tahir), Sundar can replace one of them next year. And that means he plays for his state franchise.

So Rajasthan Royals still have a chance to qualify with 13 points if they beat DC today , SRH loses to RCB and tomorrow if MI beats KKR. On the other hand felt that against RCB they were unlucky 2 points were there to be taking in the run curtailed five over match.

That was on incredible match never seen Dhoni like that ever on the field while batting or behind the stumps and at one stage during the IPL it looked highly unlikely CSK will qualify but they did eventually managed to do that and ultimately lift the title as well perhaps the only year where csk struggled in the league stages.

I have an eerie feeling CDG might be crucial for RCB today with the bat.

Might just be the last time we see Kohli - ABD together for an IPL franchise. That video they put together on social media today perhaps was a subtle hint of how things are likely to be in that franchise in the comings.

Again this is what I feel from outside might be possible that RCB again retains the legendary duo and try to reshuffle the team in the auctions.

I was actually furious with Umesh Yadav the way he bowled was just disheartening to see from an RCB perspective !!!! :facepalm

RCB needs to learn not to bowl Umesh Yadav at the death :spy

If SRH win today, they qualify for all practical and mathematical reasons and it would be almost impossible for KKR to beat SRH on NRR. Just for that, hope RCB pull this one off and keep the interest going into the final day of the league stage.

CSK play their last game tomorrow and should win it ideally but even if they don't, they should ensure not to lose by a margin that puts them below DC. That way, CSK need not worry about the MI-KKR game and rest easy with a spot in the Top 2. If MI win tomorrow, they'll top the league stage due to their NRR. Too many permutations and combinations to be in play tomorrow..

"In 2012, Deccan Chargers (SRH) had defeated RCB in their last league match to spoil the RCB's playoffs dreams. Deccan Charges were already out of IPL and RCB needed 1 victory to enter the playoffs. By losing that match RCB were eliminated from the IPL. Today RCB is paying back. Circle of Life!!! "

Well I remember it quite vividly infact RCB needed just one out of two wins to qualify for playoffs and that would have meant CSK won't qualify for the Playoffs because they were on 14 points alongside RCB but with a +ve nrr and RCB choked to lost 2 in 2 games and failed to qualify.
