Indian Premier League - General Discussion

MSD doesn't plan to bat much for CSK this season, it looks like. He's there for captaincy sake.

And this is game over to me!!! Knowing the way Dhoni thinks, they are thinking already of minimizing the margin of defeat so that it does not hurt that Net Run Rate much if that gets into play in the latter part of the tournament. This happens atleast one game for CSK in every season where they have an eye on NRR when chasing a mammoth total.

The approach from CSK isn't justified at all. Just atleast think about the organizers who have worked to conduct the season. It should've been hit out or get out. This isn't even later stages where you play for the run-rate. Fairly disappointing performance this! :facepalm

Tentative and a bit nervous. Very unlike the Yashasvi we know

Gaikwad played a very odd shot today too along with Garg yesterday. Hopefully these blokes hit the ground running soon, would rather see them over the likes of Vijay and Uthappa.[DOUBLEPOST=1600795863][/DOUBLEPOST]

This isn't the first time Dhoni has done this though, not surprised at all. Game was basically lost when RR posted 200 plus.

Not new! CSK have done this quite a few times in past seasons where they have had games very early in the tournament where the opposition scores a mammoth total and CSK will give up and play for NRR. Dhoni will even gleefully mention about it in the post match interviews that they played for NRR. It has worked for them every time though. Hope it does this season too

Loving Faf's performance yet again. Brilliant stuff from him.

The CSK bowlers lost this for us pretty badly. They also need dressing downs after the game. Bringing this down to a 20 or below run loss will do well for CSK

Don't know why Dhoni always hit sixes in the last over.

Job done, NRR saved, pressure off.

Absolutely. Those who have followed CSK long enough, will understand their tactic.

Rayudu's absence and Ruturaj's failure today along with those dummy runs from Vijay, makes things confusing. Will they drop Vijay and bring back Rayudu in his place? Or will they drop Ruturaj and bring back Rayudu in his place? Honestly I don't know what'd be the best thing to do. I want Ruturaj to play more, but has he really recovered well enough? And what's up with Jagadeesan? CSK doesn't seem to have an ounce of hope or faith in that lad. He has been a very good T20 player for Tamil Nadu in the domestic tournaments. Wonder why he was not tried today since Ruturaj has just come back from COVID.

He should have hit those sixes two overs ago.

Nah! Knew he wouldn't hit it since Faf at the other end was going so well and so Dhoni wanted to get himself in while Faf makes it count.

Will you give Vijay a dressing down too? He has been pathetic in the field as well. He simply ensured CSK were never in the chase tonight.

Well he might get it too... But not as much as the bowlers who leaked runs like crazy today. As Samson said post-innings, the wicket is not that good for batting and it was purely CSK's horrible bowling and RR's batting that took them to 217.

Just asking - why do you always seem to be picking on me? You like me so much eh? :D:lol

I love you. ;)

I'm not too sure if we're talking about the same Jagadeesan who did not strike above a run a ball in last seaon's SMA trophy. Granted he was slightly better in 2018 but I still don't think he is of the required quality to play at a high level and is not a naturally aggressive slogger either which is what we seem to lack in that middle order barring Curran.
