Indian Premier League - General Discussion

I can see it coming, if Kohli won't take RCB to top 4 this time we might well see a new Captain for RCB as well. People would say that Kohli won't because he is powerful so we better not forget that someone like Sachin Tendulkar was taken off the Captaincy before 2012 IPL from Mumbai Indians and also he was actually sacked from the one-day side of Indian team after a run of average form for more than a year.

If that doesn't happen that let us turn a bit suspicious that his son/daughter's arrival changes him for the good. This has happened earlier with Shikhar Dhawan and also happened with Rohit Sharma too!!

Venky Mysore is a very cunning guy. It's not courage, it called pressure of sacking from the team. Relation between Bazz & DK is not very good. DK is not a aggressive captain & that's why Bazz didn't like him. Karthick was under immense pressure for his captaincy & poor form. I think, if he continues his poor batting form, now they'll remove DK from from the playing XI. Banton or Naik will be the new wicket-keeper. Shivam Mavi will take DK's spot in the upcoming matches. Straight trees are cut first.
I agree on Kartick being under immense pressure for his poor form, I disagree he and Bazz had something. Infact DK has been all praises of Bazz and vice-verse. Going into mega auction, we always knew this was DK's last season for KKR. 3 years under him, its not like we dint perform well. 2018 we reached eliminators and the numeber 1 team in 2018 SRH won against us. 2019 we dint make it based on NRR, this year we are almost close if we tighten up our lineup and stop the shuffling. KKR has seen worst days.

Going to Morgan (he was already leading), is just an on paper thing. Atleast the social media trolls will stop bitching and whining about DK. DK is a fine human being. Would be interesting to see how this will pan out going into mega auction. Do they retain 35 year old Morgan to lead KKR? DO they have guts to make a young player a captain in Gill? Interesting year and half ahead.

Disappointing move from DK! I thought he was doing really well as captain this time and was happy that KKR backed him for captaincy for another season despite getting average returns in the previous two seasons.

Have a feeling that something has happened post the "Narine reported for illegal action" issue that has led to this relinquishing of captaincy. I hope I am wrong.

Also I want to point out that I am a hardcore KKR supporter. It started because of Dada. I am generally right handed in all my task but I grew up watching Dada and bat left handed. Our year 1 squad was such a unique one. We had a 28 year old Chris Gayle, Ricky Ponting, Aakash Chopra, Cheteshwar Pujara, Umar Gul, Salman Butt, Akhtar, Bazz, Hussey, Ishant Sharma, etc. That was such a unique squad lead by Dada. We also had Mendis, Matthews, Agarkar. Shane Bond joining us for Season 3. Season 4 saw a complete overhaul with Gambhir leading us with Kallis, Morgan, Brett Lee, Bisla. Season 5 we saw Mohammad Shami join us (who knew letting him go would mean our Indian bowling lineup would weaken), Yusuf Pathan, Shakib al Hasan. We also had Sanju Samson at one point in our lineup :yes. Season 4 plus saw the emergence of Sunil Narine, Ryan Ten.

Its been quite a journey, a lot of good players were part of KKR but they never invested and were smart as Mumbai Indians. Imagine, they kept investing in Sanju Samson, Mohamad Shami, they would have paid dividends today.

I agree, any rumours of beef between Baz and DK are nothing more than rumours. I just believe that he gave it up as he was overburdened like he says and in truth he hasn't contributed as much to captaincy this season with Morgan already taking responsibility. I don't think he is going to be dropped despite his poor form either, he does have his brainfade moments with the gloves but Banton is a lot worse and Naik is completely untested.

Pretty ironic that they've brought in Green to play the role Narine did given the former's own history with accusations of chucking.[DOUBLEPOST=1602856899][/DOUBLEPOST]
Kuldeep Yadav .... :(

Unfortunately does not deserve a place in this lineup on form, when you've got blokes like Nagarkoti and Lockie sitting out there is no place for him.

Has not helped him that he does not have good mentors around him to make him grow. His form has been poor in the last year or so now. Last IPL as well he had little to no impact.

DK in this early is interesting. Morgan said he wanted to shore up the hitting in the later overs, did he mean himself being part of those plans too?

They need to have some batsman at the crease in the last 5 overs. I'd expect the Karthik, Morgan, Russell middle order would be flexible depending on when wickets go down with an emphasis on Morgan and Russell facing as many balls as possible in the last 10 overs.

Looking like it'll be Pat Cummins leading the charge in after 15 overs again. :lol

Edit - Definitely looking like it... what a poor shot from DK.

Excited to see Chris Green. Have watched him a lot in highlights but would be great to watch him live.

Russell has been sheer disappointing this year.

Russell has been sheer disappointing this year.

With that technique of his where he sets himself up, the short ball slightly above his arc will always be a massive issue.

The only winner I can see from the KKR fiasco is Justin Langer who will be rubbing his hands in glee at the prospect of unleashing a four man pace battery and still have Lyon in the side versus India a few weeks later.

With the way Bumrah got Russell out I think Steve Smith could be in trouble playing him in the Australian Summer.
