I think
@Bevab has nailed the "kohli" point in his post.
Personally, I don't care what Kohli earns. For me, He has been Bangalore's captain for ten years and I am not one of those TV people who is going to ask how many titles he has won. I am asking, how many times has he qualified? In my opinion, 2016 where RCB played the finals was basically a case of Kohli becoming all of the avenger superheroes in one and taking them there with help from AB. But, that was his batting taking it. What else other than that?
People in one IPL are not getting ten games to prove themselves. Some, have proven themselves (Hashim Amla) and don't get contracts. This bloke has been in the job ten years.
TEN YEARS!
It's a monumental sample size and I have no hesitation in saying that today's game was a sh!t show even for someone who is as bad a captain as Kohli.
The comparison with the likes of Rohit and Dhoni are just embarrassing. Their trophy cabinet doesn't lie and I don't subscribe to the school of thought that Kohli is not capable of being as good a T20 bat as them, I just think he's made himself a % player a bit too much for the T20 format. While it works in other formats, the formula is jaded and extinct in an ever evolving format. It's the same with Dhoni's "taking it deep." The difference is that Dhoni is 40 and Kohli is 30.
A lot of criticism of Sharma is valid, but when he fires, India/MI win and he doesn't make garbage runs. Kohli as expected has leapfrogged AB as the leading run scorer but AB has 3 meaningful 50's (all match winning) while Kohli has one. Yes, it still is the innings of the IPL but the class of player that he is, he should be able to adapt to days where he needs to tee off from ball 1 and it's not like he can't. He just doesn't. The question isn't on his ability, it's on his mindset.
And I'm not a Kohli fan but if someone here is and feels he's a good captain then they need to probably stop smoking so much marijuana.
