Indian Premier League - General Discussion

The handling of Ruturaj has been gobsmackingly horrible! Same with Jagadeesan. They are definitely in a very scared and heavy pressure mind space as their captain, who also happens to be someone whose voice in world cricket is still HUGELY respected, told the world that the youngsters in his team do not have the spark to get a spot in the playing XI

Smart from Pollard to give an extra over to Boult here and get Jadeja who has been one of the few in form players left in CSK with the bat.

I'm just clueless why does Rohit not bowl Bumrah much with the new ball? He just does it really well!

What was the need of that second slog? Why Dhoni, why?

Controversial opinion but you wouldn't have seen a confident Dhoni or one in form play that way instead of hunkering down and taking the team to a respectable total. Very reminiscent of Ganguly in his twilight years hitting a six and then promptly getting out.

5 runs, 3 wickets? Anyone there?

At 21-5, I was expecting him to play an innings similar to that in Chennai against Pakistan when he made a century. Hurts to see him go like that :(

Worst part is him playing beyond the winning point at a sedate pace earlier and now losing his wicket frequently in search of the intent.

What an innings Sam Curran! One for the future! Really hope CSK hold on to him in the mega auction[DOUBLEPOST=1603467960][/DOUBLEPOST]And what a sharp yorker from Boult!

Well done Sam Curran! That was some seriously mature batting to take CSK to a respectable score of 114. At one point, RCB's 49 looked in danger of being beaten. And Imran Tahir was full of energy in that cute little cameo! Hope Tahir is given a bowl in the Powerplay. Might as well give him some solid gametime and try to attack and go out of the tournament attacking.

The first name on the CSK squad sheet for the next 5-6 years should be Sam Curran.

This innings just goes to show how demons in the mind are so much worse than demons in the pitch

Take a bow Sam Curran - the only guy who has looked like he wants to win desperately. That was a brilliant knock

This in a nutshell is the reason for CSK's woes this season. Half the squad has played in a complacent state of "what can you do at worst? Drop me?" while the other half has just been sitting around for opportunities for three years whilst getting tired and mentally unprepared at the end by the lack of it.

And you're already having the toxic fanbase that Dhoni unfortunately has patrolling on social media adding fuel to the fire by saying that Dhoni was vindicated in his decision to throw the youngsters under the bus after they failed today. This entire franchise needs a reboot at this point unfortunately.

All talk right now is about "what auction will be available before IPL 2021". A mega auction is almost ruled out. The whole of Chennai is praying for some auction to happen before IPL 2021.

I think it is the ideal time for Dhoni to give up captaincy. CSK should have Faf Du Plessis lead them in 2021 while Dhoni stays on as a player/mentor. There is a precedence for this. In 2016, Dhoni endured a horrid season as captain for Rising Pune Supergiants where they finished at the bottom two of the table. For the 2017 season, Dhoni gave up captaincy and Steve Smith took over as captain while Dhoni continued as a player and kept mentoring the players. And RPSG played really well to finish runners up for that season and they lost by just 1 run to Mumbai in the 2017 final. Faf has strong captaincy credentials and is a 200% confirmed spot in the playing XI for every single game. Give him captaincy and play carefree cricket as a player.
