Indian Premier League - General Discussion

KKR made a meal out of that chase. Rana needed to hold one end but he danced down the wicket like nobody's business. Russell was looking to swat every ball even though it was practically still a run a ball chase when he came in.

Can't be giving MI easy wins like this, I really don't want them to lift the trophy for a third time in a row :rolleyes. Have a feeling though that this season will not be so much a walk in the park for MI as last season. Teams might have come up better prepared against a predictable batting lineup on some of these slower tracks judging by their last two games.

Russel's wickets are what I call garbage wickets.

It also showed how data driven the game has become. Russell is bowling round the wicket and not one batsman has the imagination to stand on off or even outside off. I mean, he is not going to bowl anywhere else!! But data doesn't provide for such intuition so no one is reinventing on the fly.

And this "blind aggression" that Morgan is the pied piper off is as stupid as India's "lay a platform."

I keep saying it again and again- T20 cricket is "play as per merit."

Also, I just don't get the big deal about Morgan. I have never seen him perform in a tough situation on a track that has something in it.

I have a strong feeling that Mumbai are going to leave out Jansen for Jayant Yadav for all games in Mumbai and Delhi. I think if Hardik was bowling, they wouldn't care and just play 3 Indians but with that route closed, I think they might go horses for courses for the games in Chennai and Delhi.

I will not be in the least surprised if they go horses for courses and decide to swap Pollard for Neesham for those limited number of games.

Stokes out of the IPL with a broken finger- big loss for the Royals. One less decent bowler in a team which lacks any venom in its bowling attack. I'd really like Conway to be given a chance in the IPL, I think he's a very underrated batsman and he can play the role of that batsman who can hold an end and tee off if needed. He could easily fit at that #4 spot and let Buttler open, and let the others around him play aggressively if he does his thing and hold one end. But as usual franchises are skeptical of picking up overseas batsman without any experience in the subcontinent, so likely that wouldn't happen.

Do you mean in Chennai and Delhi? Definitely, they will. Yesterday, Rohit bowled an over when Morgan and Rana were batting and all the wickets before the last over were taken by spinners. MI missed the third spinner.

I'm hoping to see Liam Livingstone get a chance. They have David Miller too.

If Buttler doesn't open with one of those in the team then they really are clueless.

Is Livingstone an opener?

It's easy for you to say they are clueless. There's a reason our national team suffers in the middle overs of any white ball game. We just don't have the players to motor in that phase apart from two batters and they both play for one franchise.

If Livingstone can open the batting or bat in the middle order then I would also open with Buttler and Vohra but if Livingstone is just an opener then he opens. I saw him bat in the 50 over game and he looks the part. Very accomplished looking batter.

I meant if Miller or Livingstone come into the middle order.

RR needs to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Then, Miller can bat at the lower order. :yes

My Lineup for RR, if they want to win this IPL 2021,

Jos Buttler
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Sanju Samson (c & wk),
Shivam Dube
David Miller
Riyan Parag
Rahul Tewatia
Chris Morris
Shreyas Gopal
Chetan Sakariya
Andrew Tye

MI won't ever swap Pollard for anyone tbh. I think he has hardly missed any game for MI in the last decade or so.
