Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Pathetic batting!
Again everything relies on ABD.

RCB look listless and lacking energy

I feel like the recent developments in Kohli's career might have an impact on the team in general.

Wow, for a change we actually did good. Morgan's captaincy was spot on today. Let me be happy till tis lasts.

With RCB and Mumbai's defeats, Delhi's likelihood of making the Top 2 grows ever more significantly. With the team that they have (and they're going to be bolstered by the return of Rabada, Nortje and Shreyas) and these pitches that suit their explosive opening combo of Shaw-Dhawan, its going to take some unbelievable play to keep them out of the final. RCB looked smart and good when picking their replacements, but they just dont seem to have the mental acumen to revive themselves quickly when things dont go their way. For them, its about extremes. MI and CSK have that quality of picking themselves up from any dump that they fall into.

The league is quite lop-sided at the moment. It has been since the last few years tbh.

MI & CSK running away with Delhi & Kolkata playing the eternal bridesmaids.

I really hope there's a change in the teams in the forthcoming edition and that the new teams shake things up. In particular, very disappointed with the management of Punjab and Rajasthan, who seem to have stuck to one template only.

I also think some new rules should come in regarding swap in ownership of certain franchises. Eventually the IPL is about the fans, and some fans just endure so much pain for years because their team's owners know shit about cricket. BCCI can ask for ownership of franchise names, or terminate certain franchises from IPL and let new owners own a franchise for that respective city (eg. Zinta is terminated and takes the franchise name with her; new owner bids for Punjab franchise and gives it a new name but can retain the Punjab word).

Something to shake up teams that perennially underperform

Love it, if that were to happen.

Zinta has been complaining that the team suffers from fan loyalty. Given the changes she has implemented over the years, it doesnt surprise me one bit. Furthermore, she has been requesting the BCCI to allow her to change the franchise base from Punjab to either of Pune or Dharamsala. Such antics will impact the brand in big way!

The 2 new teams (or 1) will mean the league will either to to a 9 team round-robin OR 2-groups of 5 each system. Either way, it be interesting if a mega auction is conducted without the RTM cards.

I was thinking if we have only 1 retention and 1 RTM for the mega auction it would be fun. Everything will be built from the base once again. And this would even attract more people to the league because of the excitement of seeing how the star players of other teams would perform for their franchise.

For eg:-
TeamRentention
MIRohit Sharma
CSKRavindra Jadeja
DCRishabh Pant
RCBVirat Kohli
KKRShubman Gill
KXIPKL Rahul
RRSanju Samson
SRHDavid Warner

Bumrah, Sam Curran, Steve Smith, AB de Villiers (if he continues to play)/Paddikal, Eoin Morgan, Mayank Agarwal, Jos Buttler and Kane Williamson gets retained through RTM in auction.
