Also for the auctions there should be some restriction in place that you as a team cannot bid for a particular more than a specific number of times.

Like if there is Maxwell up for the auction and MI bids for him so they cannot bid for more than 5 times for him and neither any other side could bid for him for more than 5 times.

Genuinely curious, what purpose would this change serve?

Its a bid war - the whole attraction is the back and forth, the increasing stakes and some players getting ridiculous undeserving amounts

Since most of the players would be released it would hamper the budget of some teams while some will spend excessively to get back their players. So this would create an imbalance. By having a cap on the bids you can avoid that and it gives other teams the chance to look out for better players without needing to spend much. The auction would lose the attraction but the league will benefit from it.

Hmm got it

I think if a team is running through their budget, it is probably down to poor planning and poor scouting more than anything else. A team susceptible to shelling out big bucks on particular players will probably end up with a crappy team even with this method. But fair point for trying to possible level the playing field monetarily.

If you want to disrupt the entire concept of auctions, introduce the element of RTC-Right to Choose card for the marquee players.

Essentially, give the player the option to say no to 2 franchisees. Since, this wouldn't be revealed until the final bid has been placed, you can expect some eyebrows to be raised/massive changes to the auction strategy. Firmly believe this tactic would dissuade teams like MI and CSK from stocking up marquee players. Would be quite fun, In my opinion.

Horrendous!!! Really!!! How horrendous can Punjab be, to keep doing this even though the season went through a 4 month break between the first half and the second half? How bad are they, that they haven't learnt any lesson whatsoever from that first half?

WOW!!!

Punjab's strategy was messed up right from the very beginning,i.e, the IPL India leg. I am honestly not sure why they are employing the services of Gayle to the fullest. We have seen them screw it up in the first leg due to this reason. Secondly, as someone mentioned, where on earth is Ravi Bishnoi?

Also, amazed that people still would like to see Rahul take over as India captain, based on his IPL captaincy exploits. Hope it never happens!
