Both CSK and MI heavily underperformed today. But something tells me that they're playing the "slow and steady game". Mumbai a lot more than CSK, who tried going after quite a few other players that they could not end up getting. Mumbai as usual seems to have specific plans and the way their side is building up in terms of quality/age, still gives them enough time to end this auction the way they always do - AT THE TOP!!
CSK is a big soup, significant soup! The strategy of going after the same set of players who are almost past their expiry date was extremely annoying. Their adamance to move away from the past plan, especially when they so emphatically said that "they are going to rebuild for the future", reeked of hypocrisy. Unless they have a handful of extremely excellent buys tomorrow, they are going to end up with a squad thats going to continue being as vulnerable as it was these past 3 years and now they stare at a future where mega auctions could be done away with and it could get tougher to get good players.
