The reason this won't work here is, because you are not just playing games within your own groups. That is something we see in other ICC tournaments. But in IPL, you play two matches per team inside your own group. Then you play 2 matches against one team from another group. And finally 1 match with leftover terms of another group.

So you are playing all the other teams and not just teams in your own group. That is why the top 4 out of 10 for playoffs instead of top 2 from 5.

It's more like how things work in American sport. So beyond being too long it'll be confusing as well.

I think it makes sense since all of them are going to play each other atleast once. I think someone already mentioned it before.

AFAIK, it would be ending by May so we still have 2 months. I feel we should only play matches of single group rather than everyone playing each other.

du Plessis is really old, you don't how his fitness level is. Most probably he is amazing in fitness level but being an Overseas player and in RCB his spot isn't fixed to get the captain spot

Unbelievable! Only 25% crowds for IPL? Maharashtra cases are down 300x from their peak, which was a month ago. The drop in cases has been dramatic and yet only 25% crowds?

Hope they increase it as the tournament progresses! This is Omicron for god's sake, which is definitely proven to be milder than Delta (in terms of causing severe illness)
