IPL playoffs to be held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad with full-capacity crowds

Qualifier 1 and Eliminator at Eden Gardens on May 24 and 25; Narendra Modi Stadium to host Qualifier 2 and final on May 27 and 29

How conveniently have the playoffs been moved to Kolkata (Ganguly's hometown) and Ahmedabad (Jay Shah's home town)? While its great news that 100% crowd is going to be allowed for Playoffs (about time; to get past this Covid drama), its so "nepotistic" to favor hometowns of the President and the Vice President.

Also with this change, the team winning Qualifier 1 loses the advantage of "staying put in the ground where they won the game and playing final in the same ground". This now tilts things in favor of the team that wins Qualifier 2, because that team will now play the final in the same ground where it won Qualifier 2.

I think they are honestly the best cricket stadiums in India currently!

I will not pick Kohli or Rohit for the WC and I think we have enough talent in the den for a change of guard. Innumerable stats could have been thrown around in favour of Dravid, Tendulkar and Ganguly prior to the 2007 World Cup.

I don't think I'd pick Kishan ahead of Shreyas Iyer but I do agree that, in principle, neither Rohit or Kohli are necessarily in the best players in T20 for India. Although both have fairly decent stats at international level in recent times. Personally, I wanted Virat to bin off T20i when he gave up the captaincy.

But it won't happen.

Even I was thinking along these lines tbh. This seems so much like 2007. And change is the need of the hour here. Kohli & Sharma both look overcooked. We need new energy and freshness in T20 atleast.

I feel Rohit and Kishan are to blamed at the top. This pitch was 175-ish. I am concerned with both Rohit & Kohli going into the world cup with this form.

Shreyas Iyer is a seasonal fruit. You will always see him plunder mediocre attacks. Kishan was so well settled in the MI middle order and he can make the best bowler in the world look stupid when he gets going. But Shastri and co came up with the bright idea of opening with him. In 5 years time people will feel ashamed to compare Iyer and Kishan. DK has to be in that squad. I wouldn't even mind putting Pandya at 4 and having DK at 7 with Kishan as reserve batter/keeper in the squad.
