Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Barring the leeway to Dhoni, I would say well played CSK. They were in tough situation until the 16th over of their innings but they turned it around and how?! Excellent bowling by them too to restrict GT batsmen. Maybe just maybe they could have played the local lad Shankar at #3 or even #4 and banked on Shanaka, Miller and Tewatia to do the hitting are the end. Hopefully GT recovers and book a rematch of sorts in the final to turn things around.

Like I said earlier, Congratulations CSK on your first win against GT. Hopefully GT can bounce back from here to retain the trophy.

Gotta love the CSK crowd, the only one that truly feels like a home audience that is out there to support their side at all costs like the ones you see in football.

As Sunil Gavaskar said on air... let umpires decide, it was a decision they made. Also my question was more on BCCI allowing it and fixing it.
I don't think the umpires who didn't have the guts to call a wide ball currently when Dhoni stared at them or when they kept mum when Dhoni rushed from the dug out to argue with them would be firm enough to call their shots.

Right, as for that question, I do think the results of some of the matches are fixed.

Mumbai or Lucknow should have a tough time against the home side for the final qualifier. Hopefully its Mumbai.

It’s the utter obsession with numbers, stats and wanting to be the leading man that is prevalent in Indian cricket that leads to such decisions.
The batting line up looks a mess on paper. They've got five 5 or 6 (last ten overs players) in the top 8.

If Shanaka isn't gonna bowl then play Wade, or Little and Sudharsan as a 3.

Excellent victory and another comeback season where we revitalize ourselves from the bottom to reach the final summit! This victory felt hard earned because Gujarat Titans are such a quality side and till Rashid Khan got out, you could not breathe easy! And when you have guys like Deshpande, you cannot breathe easy at all! :lol:p

Chepauk has been tricking teams at the toss, with the conditions. Last time CSK got it wrong against KKR and today thankfully Gujarat got it wrong against us. The dew did not turn up until the last few overs of the chase, by which CSK had done enough to not let surprises come in. Jadeja turned the ball like a venom. His bowling form has been a great boost this season. Ruturaj also batted beautifully and literally carried Conway with him (Conway struggled big time).

10th final for us!!! I will watch the next few games without pressure, and for me, this final entry for CSK is an overachievement yet again, but CSK always make you feel that way with the kind of team they pick and the performances that they give! Dhoni said to Harsha Bhogle that he will think about his retirement in the next few months till the mini auction, but he gave the hint there that he might continue for a year. And he also explicitly said that if not continuing as a player, he is going to be in yellow colors much much longer. That statement was so feel good. He will be there always in yellow for many many years to come.

As always, anything where Dhoni is involved, people will bring in all sorts of nonsense. Nobody knows what the argument from Dhoni's side was. The umpires had to take a call quickly. But yeah, blame Dhoni if the umpire cant make a quick decision and is so sucked up by Dhoni's personality that they are willing to give an ear to Dhoni's argument. And I would like to thank all other teams, the BCCI, all the foreign players who come and play this league, to be so benevolent enough to fix games for CSK to dominate the league. :rolleyes:rolleyes:facepalm:facepalm

Pathirana!!!!!!

He was wayward when compared to his earlier performances today, but he also looked way better than Deshpande. I still cannot believe how Rashid Khan sliced that ball from Deshpande to Conway! It was a huge risk to have such a economically poor bowler (even if he takes wickets) to bowl to guys like Rashid Khan when the asking rate is even 14's.

Rashid Khan is just never out of the game, he is an absolute lion hearted cricketer I have ever come across!

That guy is fcukin' BRILLIANT!! Literally comes out and bosses games. Thankfully CSK have always had batsmen who have found a wood over Rashid Khan (Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu; Ruturaj is slowly developing that characteristic but not yet there). Makes you literally laugh at Hyderabad for either 'letting Rashid go' or 'not have the environment to make Rashid want to stay'. If he wanted 20 crores, give him. If he wants captaincy, give him! How the hell do you lose such players?

Honestly, I was breathing easy from the first ball today. I just felt CSK would win it easy at Chepauk. I love the wickets. A little bit of help for the bowlers just makes the game so much more interesting than the roads which yield 200. I think the challenge for CSK will come in Ahmedabad and I think they will need another quick bowler there instead of a spinner.

Also, you are not liking Deshpande but he is looking like a long term CSK prospect to me. He has gas and I think they will groom him as their India death bowler. Pace is pace.

It is amazing that this bowling line up has made the finals. Vital innings today from Rahane, Rayudu and Moeen Ali.

Bizarre why Shankar wasn't sent in at 3 considering he's in form and it's his home ground. This type of situation now is one where he's never excelled in. Might've preferred Shanaka over him to bat in the death overs.
Need to get CSK in for the retirement special.

What the hell are Mumbai Indians doing!!! Why keep slogging and letting your impact SUB which was a horrendous decision anyway bat? Mumbai are 20 short right now and if Wadhera cannot get 10-15 runs in this last over, I am afraid LSG has it in the bag

I just felt Jordan's ego came in between as he kept slogging and kept failing! That cancelled second run to slog sweeping!
