What will the result of the Test series be?

yeah fair enough but I am not moving Tendulkar anywhere from no. 4, if Amla is to be picked, then Kallis will move to no.5.

Then jk can bowl more overs since he gets more rest, so all works out.:D

Don't think dravid,ab,pujara, prince or anyone else did enough to get into the series side.

There is also the option of the BCCI creating better pitches and less hectic schedules (domestic and international) to encourage fast bowling, India coaches nurturing pace bowling talent, putting them on the right diets and fintess routines, letting them gain exposure in other nations with A Team tours or sending them to play club and domestic cricket, and not tossing them into Test and ODI level until they're good enough...

But yea, that's far more unlikely than the other two options :p
This is kind of a Catch-22 situation. Obviously our strength is batting (and supposed to be spinning). So if we suddenly transition pitches, there will be an interim period where the fast bowling will be coming up to scratch and the batsmen will be struggling. And during that period India would suck and you know as well as me that no one would accept that.

Yeah the lower orders really struggled here (except for Lax with that one inning). Maybe coincided with the second new ball?

I think Dravid's time is up. His stay at crease looks very laborious now. He should hang his boots. India have enough talent in batting department to take his spot.

True. Also it would be better if Dravid retires when Sachin and Laxman have a few years left rather than quitting at around the same time period. Pujara can be eased into that No.3 slot and we can open up a slot to bring in Rahane or Kohli into the middle order.

No one has been named as Gambhir's replacement yet right, for ODIs n Twenty20 ?? Quite a hotch potch, criciinfo suggests Tendulkar in 20-20 squad.

My squad for 1st n 2nd ODI:

Tendulkar
Vijay
Kohli
Yuvraj
Raina
Dhoni
Pathan
Ashwin
Bhajji
P Kumar
M Patel

* resting Zaheer, don't wanna have him break down again.

Zaheer wont be rested. Remember this is more of a World Cup warm-up. If Zak breaks down, we have to live with it, thats all.

A draw is a draw but to totally brush aside that the UDRS could have made a difference for South Africa especially in that 2nd test is pure bull ████. A blind man could tell that they got the short end when it came to decisions int his series. They also have their own fielding to blame in this last test, unusually for a South African team.

Get the facts straight, I voted for South Africa 2-1 win.

Actually no, a blind man couldn't. Considering these were calls that two umps missed, and were, more or less, touch and go. Bad calls average out. :P

They named same squad for T20 and ODI series, so prolly thats why he's in there, pretty sure he isn't gonna play otherwise it would've been breaking news in all news channel over here :p

Good series review article. If it was a 5 test series, S Africa most likely would have come out on top however.

But as the writer stated:

quote said:
India and South Africa have been the most consistent teams over the last two years, and it shows in the rankings. South Africa's record of not having won any of their last three home series shows in their being No. 2. England have joined the race with a smashing Ashes win. We're back to the days before Australia started dominating world cricket. Bring on another year of similar hard-fought Test cricket.

Which is all true. Since AUS era ended & lost their # 1 status after the 2006/07 series (although the flawed ranking system didn't take it from them until they lost @ home to SA in 08/09). Since 2007 both IND & SA have been equal.

S Africa have played 15 test series since 2007. Winning 9, drawing 5, losing 1.

IND have played 16 test series since 2007. Winning 10, drawing 4, losing 2.

Pretty much shows why the ranking system has been useless.

We now certainly are back to the 91-94 days after WI declined & AUS didn't take over as # 1 yet.

Dont think we will have the kind of # 1 side on the level of WI 76-91 or AUS 95-2006/07 for the foreseeable future. What i see happening is a set team of teams jostling to be # 1 of a lower standard & form fill fluctuate almost yearly.

I read somewhere that SAF aren't playing their next test match again until next october? Wow, that must suck actually. That's some piss poor scheduling.

For India, it's action packed. 3 tests in Windies, 4 in England, 3 at home against Windies, and then 4 in Australia. :cheers

Nah their next test series is this sept/oct vs Australia.

I want India to play 5 test match series vs SA or England.

Away

I think ECB and BCCI were planning to have a 5 test match series in June but I only read it somewhere a long time ago. Don't know what's the update on that. It would make sense though. After we tour England, England are coming to India anyways for 5 odi and there's a gap of about a month during that time.

Without a doubt, just look at the statistical wrap up on cricinfo. SA dominated in every single category. Despite doing mildly well the Indian seamers still averaged over 40, the Saffer in the 20s!
