What will the result of the Test series be?

I must say India have done really well to draw the series with SA. They are a very tough team to beat in their own backyard. Good thing for India was that bar the first innings of first test, they did not allow SA to dominate like the Africans were expect to. If India had a little more quality to their pace bowling, they would have won this series. India need to find a good third seamer and they will hold onto that number one ranking a lot longer.

Ishan in ODI's. Good lord! The only place where he can save face in tests. He has become completely rubbish even in tests now. He gets spanked so often in T20's and ODI's. He has to do something out of cricket right now to get back to bowling like how he used to before.

Let's agree to disagree. I just did two minutes' worth of research (would've been 30 seconds but connection was slow lol) and looked at his average. I say an ODI average of 31 at under 6 an over is good enough. Of course, if you've got five bowlers better than that, go with them!

Anyway, he's only 22, for goodness' sake. His FC stats are fine. If he sticks at it, he will probably be Test-quality in a year or two!

Problem is he was test quality about two years ago. Then something went wrong. He lost pace (he touched 151 in Australia) and rhythm. I think he has been coached wrong. He had natural flair but that is lost to him atm. He can still find his lost touch but it may take some coaching GOOD coaching.

Should get an award for that, to be honest. A whole hour!
Give that to Dravid, he has been struggling to be at the crease for even 20 minutes for quite some time now.

Its so surprising to see people pointing fingers on a player for just one bad series. At least he (Sehwag) has been playing better than RD for almost three years (since his return) now.

And by writing that he stuck for almost an hour, I meant that even though he is a naturally aggressive player, Sehwag showed that he can bat slow as well if the team needs it.

----------

he might still miss your sarcasm :p
I understood that on the first instance itself. :)

I think Dravid's time is up. His stay at crease looks very laborious now. He should hang his boots. India have enough talent in batting department to take his spot.

Well done to india. Fully deserved the draw. I am very disappointed in my side except for kallis and steyn everyone else were way too inconsistent to win the series.

Will be interesting to see what changes get made for the october test series.

Now to focus on the odi's. Good to sees imran tahir and faf du plessis getting picked. I think this will be the wc squad with kallis added to make it 15, he isn't considered for the odi series.

Its was quite an enjoyable series for me. The Afrikaans fought well in their backyard & the Indians did well to keep em at bay, but the real show will begin during the ODI series. I'm guessing that the winner of that series has a serious chance of making it to the final of the ODI World Cup.

Cheers to more Quality cricket coming our way :cheers

No one has been named as Gambhir's replacement yet right, for ODIs n Twenty20 ?? Quite a hotch potch, criciinfo suggests Tendulkar in 20-20 squad.

My squad for 1st n 2nd ODI:

Tendulkar
Vijay
Kohli
Yuvraj
Raina
Dhoni
Pathan
Ashwin
Bhajji
P Kumar
M Patel

* resting Zaheer, don't wanna have him break down again.

A very good series to watch, enjoying and both teams having their moments. Both teams failed to capitalise on two occasions and at the end they were equal.
Though I would put India a little ahead as Donald did because we did a lot lot better than we were expected to and SA dominated only one test and India, you can say one and the third one until last 5 sessions. Still not much separating both teams.

The XI for the series:
Gambhir - best opener for the series
Petersen - best among the rest failed ones, stayed at crease for more time than other ones.
Kallis - Man of the series, 3 tons. what more you need.
Tendulkar - most consistent Indian Batsmen, showed the masterclass.
Laxman - his durban showings were the reason behind India's successful tour. Gets going when everyone else failed.
????
Dhoni - Scored useful runs at Centurion and Durban.
Harbhajan - no competition from Harris, better at batting, made useful runs and was sensational at Durban and during his 7er.
Khan - Best Indian pacer, sensational at Durban.
Steyn - Best bowler of the series.
Morkel - Did good enough to support Steyn, edging sreesanth by a margin.

In the context of India's history in SA, this 1-1 result is excellent.

2-1 would have been the icing on the cake though.

Sadly people will forget all about India's Test exploits once the World Cup hype is built up.

Never mind. I see the side only has 10 in. Given that I would say amla at number 3, he averaged 50 this series.

yeah fair enough but I am not moving Tendulkar anywhere from no. 4, if Amla is to be picked, then Kallis will move to no.5.
