we didnt claim it either. its the ICC that put us there. :thumbs

nobody in his right mind will claim ANY team to be the no.1 right now.

So true. If we where in the post 2001 days of no ranking systems, where by people just made assements on who is the best test team overtime based on results. No one would have ever been calling IND # 1 ever.

Hmmm, for all the whining about others whining about India producing spinning pitches, I don't remember anyone playing this badly in India.
Not only are South Africa number 1, they are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY ahead of India.
I don't care about stupid rankings, Robin Singh was once number one ODI bowler in the world, and so was Astle.
I don't need stupid rankings tables, I have eyes.

:lol. Quality rant.

Suicide from Sehwag. Two suicidal dismissals for him in this Test. He really needs to stop this :facepalm

First innings dismissal was a suicide. This one had a motive. Harris was getting away with cheap overs and one of the openers had to go after him to negate the comfort of Smith rotating strike bowlers at other end.

I would back the idea of batsmen still being aggressive against Harris and Tsotsobe.

1st innngs dismissal wasnt suicide to be fair though. SA tactically planned to get him out that way.

2nd innings was definately suicide though.. But thats how he plays. If he intends to score runs this series, Sehwag will have to learn to curb his aggressive instinct @ key periods. Since the saffies will just use it againts him to get him out, without even having ti try.

Well,.. we are in such a desperate situation if ever we start to play for a draw, we'll only end up losing. Biggest wicket taking threats aree Steyn and Morkel, why would we want to play into the hands of Smith, where he could keep rotating them without much bother of who is bowling from other end.

I dont remember the name, but a guy here posted the incidence of last tour where defensive approach cost us the series.

Unbelievable. Never thought I would wake up to see India post a century stand, and Sehwag and Gambhir would have posted fifties. I thought we would get rolled up once again to have a smashing defeat. Thats the good thing, but the bad thing is, this renews a tiny bit of hope for us to save this test, and if we eventually dont, it will hurt more.:p India's RR is amazing at almost 4.5. Wow, Sehwag and Gambhir seem to have batted so well. So what the Indian papers here said was right. We were thrown off a bit by the good work of the groundsmen on Day 1 to get the game going (our team didnt expect play to start on Day 1 and were mentally switched off), and also the aftermath of the rain had considerably spiced up the pitch and helped the SA seamers well enough to invoke such a performance from us. As usual, we POOR STARTERS!

Was there any rain in the Indian innings? I heard the commentators talking about the cloud cover and went out thinking there will be some quick wickets now. But, I'm feeling a bit happier after seeing the current score.

I don't get how Paul Harris gets any wickets. He bowls utter rubbish. NO spin, his line and length isn't great either. I'll give him credit for Sehwag's wicket, he did deceive him in flight, but I'm sure Sehwag will look back n think if he'd just played him normally he could've milked him all day like what Dravid is doing atm.

Still 2 days to play.
How we gonna play 180 overs+ the remaining over today with only 9 wickets in hand?
I don't think we can save ourselves from losing.
If these 2 walls can play whole day today and half of the day tomorrow, there's some chance for us to convert this match a draw.
oh!
And a wicket falls.
We are lost for sure now.

A nightwatchman? Over half an hour still to go, I'm surprised.

Good fightback from india. We just need to stay patient and take our half chances. Morkel and Steyn are still getting some bounce and seam out of the track.

Tsotsobe looks as ordinary as the indian seamers, mcclaren/de wet or parnell for the next test please.
