50 Test hundreds :cheers Another record to that list. He needed more support.

Great achievement. :cheers

Feel sorry for him though, not a century which he will cherish. nevertheless a great knock. Happy that Indian team showed some resistance and didn't just fold up after laxman left. Good to see Dhoni performing under pressure.

India need to drop the most over rated cricketer that is Harbhajan Singh. Forget picking up wickets he isn't even capable of keeping it tight.

Kudos to Sachin for reaching such a monumental landmark.

It's all over for India though. As long as Dhoni was in the crease, I was hoping against hope that the duo would do something miraculous and steer us out of the predicament like what happened in the Kolkata Test of 2001. Not to happen anymore.

It sucks to have an innings shining with sublimity blighted by hapless display of the team as a whole.

I KNOW I'm going to anger pretty much every Indian fan when I said this but I that Sachin raising his bat and celebrating like that was sort of in bad taste considering the situation we are in. Shouldn't have done anything imo, however big an achievement it is (and trust me, I can recognize how big this is).

Sachin probably wanted to get the monkey off his back.

It becomes hard to put a lid on your emotions when you finally achieve something phenomenal and historic after a plenitude of failed attempts. The jubilation amplifies when the feat comes under hostile conditions not at all conducive to the achievement, an example being today.

Besides, he will now have no expectation or stress from fans and followers with regard to his 50th century, something that has been plaguing him for days. No matter how much we talk about Sachin putting country ahead of individual, he's a human after all.

Besides he didn't celebrate much. It lasted a few seconds and he was back to batting. He just reached his 50th Test ton and the only one in the team to score a 100, the crowd there at least deserved a bat raise.

This tour might be the end of Laxman

OMG, why do you always jump the gun so soon, Mark?:facepalm

Coming back to the game, I am not too disappointed with India's defeat (eventual). Yes, we are responsible for that 136 all out thing, but the fight we have shown in the second innings against Steyn, Morkel and co is very very heartening. Even if Durban and Cape Town are full of pace and bounce, I am not worried. Our issue is with slow starts and getting used to conditions. I am more optimistic from here. Heartening to see Dhoni finally prove that he can score in overseas tests too. He has had a good test with the bat (he batted well even when the conditions were tough on Day 1).

Laxman's failure this test has been hurting (but I expect him to be back soon). Raina HAS TO BE DROPPED FOR PUJARA! Praying that Zaheer doesnt pull up anything else in his body, and is fit for Durban. When Zaheer is around, Sreesanth and Ishant are quite different.

Nice to see India put up a real fight here in the 2nd Innings, it would have been very easy for them to just roll over and accept defeat, but they didn't, which is the sign of a good team.
Shame Dhoni gave up in the field though, why the hell was he using Raina? I thought "Declaration Bowling" was only used in County Cricket.

Durban I agree on. Not sure about cape town, last two years it hasn't really had much pace in it.

Yea well Capetown based on test matches i've seen at the ground over the years (mainly England & AUS test their) sometimes can be flat & sometimes have alot of help for the quicks.

Just last year was the perfect example of it. For the AUS test their in March 09, it was a real road. But when ENG toured last christmas it alot alot of help for the quicks for the first couple days.

So i guess @ Capetown this time we could expect help for the quicks for at least a couple days (1st 3 days) & maybe it may flat out on the final 2 days.

Raina HAS TO BE DROPPED FOR PUJARA!

I should hope so, he just looks incapable of dealing with a short ball. Is Pujara any better? they're better picking someone with a worse record that can actually play a short ball. Otherwise it means SA have it too easy formulating their bowling plan.

As i mentioned wayyy before this series started. India will regret not having Badrinath on this tour.

Agree with War, for once! :D Badri fans are scarce these days. Top of the Ranji run charts at the moment...as usual.
