There is a high possibility that Mendis might be recalled for next Test match. Muralitharan will be gone and that spot will certainly be taken by Mendis.

Maybe Sri Lanka didn't include Mendis, so only Muralitharan takes the most of the wickets?

malinga's never do him justice in tests. I dunno why, maybe he doesn't cash in on tail enders enough or maybe his bad balls are too easy to dispatch for 4s.

I don`t care where we are placed in terms of our batting at the moment. I was impressed with what I saw with our bowling in terms of intent today, apart from the inability to polish the tail off. We should take the gamble and play 3 seamers in the next game instead of sticking to a 2-2 policy against a side like SL who are comfortable against spin. We saw how they are not so comfortable against decent spells of seam bowling like we saw from Mithun and Ishant today. Also, I expect the conditions to be overcast for most of the series. Makes more sense to play 3 seamers.

As I`ve told time and again, our aim should be to get some rhythm going for our seamers which only test cricket can allow you to do. Ishant needs more overs under his belt in this series and I hope we will see him progress by the time this series ends.

Excellent debut from Mithun. Highly impressed! Ishant also came back to his bearings after the rain delay. Even if we lose this match, I wont be disappointed because we bowled very well today for a weakened bowling attack that they played for this game. Hopefully Ishant and Mithun carry forward the confidence. Mithun should be continued with for the next games.

As again, its Viru scoring runs. Hope these two bat for another 2-3 sessions and we should be quite secure for the draw. Yuvi has the form from that hundred in the tour game and Dhoni can bat for long periods. Escape with a draw and regroup for the next test with more confidence from this bowling performance today.
