Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

Happy test retirement to a legend.
Honeymoon's over now we should crush them next match.

Hope we bat first next game, and see what can we do. And also, Mishra might have to come in for Ojha (who I thought might do well after the tour game, but he disappointed badly). Same with Bhajji but he is even more indispensable now since our bowling attack is woefully short of experience.

Its because Sri Lanka are really strong in their home conditions and that if they win the toss and bat first, they rake up a very good total that buries the opposition. So the best option for India right now would be to bat first, post a big total and give the bowlers the advantage of bowling with a big total behind their backs. It doesnt mean our bowling is bad, its because our bowling is inexperienced.

I don't know what's up with Bhajji, having an extremely hard time (maybe under all the Murali heat?). Expected of Ishant. Even though Mithun is doing good there needs to be one experienced seamer in the attack leading the bowling, even if its Nehra.
Our batting lineup is what will have to give us the win next game, winning the toss is important. Or else hope Bhajji and Ojha finds their rhythm to break their middle order.

play three quicks atleast, Sehwag, Yuvi and Sachin can work as the 2nd spinner.

I really want to see 3 quicks playing, Munaf to com ein.

I have a feeling Dhoni will be ignorant enough and will play the same team :doh

Sangakkara questions ICC rankings
Sri Lanka v India: Kumar Sangakkara questions ICC Test rankings | Cricket News | Sri Lanka v India | Cricinfo.com

Hypocrite! Sri Lanka were No.2 in the ICC rankings sometime back inspite of not having won a single test in India, and having performed badly in South Africa, Australia, etc. And now that India have become No.1 and have lost a test to them in Sri Lanka, this guy questions the same ICC rankings which had been benovelent to his own team before (and he didnt question it then). Ask Sri Lanka to come out of their den and play test matches. With India, there is a strong chance that they will perform decently or even well if they tour abroad now (our bowlers now have learnt to exploit the livelier wickets overseas). Thats not the case with Sri Lanka, who are still home tigers and pussies abroad.

I think Dhoni might replace Ojha with Mishra. Thats the only change that I see. He wont play Munaf in place of a spinner. He will hope that Harbhajan has gotten more fit (Harbhajan was played inspite of not being fully fit, because he was the lone experienced hand). It was bad decision making, because experience always doesnt meet with success. Mishra and Ojha could have played the first test and Bhajji could have rested till he got fit.

Agree to you mishra ojha munaf ishant i feel would have been good

Whats wrong with Mithun? Mithun bowled very well in the first test. Mishra for Harbhajan would have been better even though Mishra didnt bowl well in that tour game.

Anyways, next match I see Mishra in for Ojha. Our batting lineup cant be shaken (Yuvraj got a 50 along with the 100 in the tour game and saved himself).

Some good news and bad news for India.

Good news: Malinga won't play in the 2nd Test, because of an injury.

Bad news: Mendis will play in the 2nd Test, because he is replacing Muralitharan in the squad.

Mendis playing wont be too bad. Even though we didnt play him well in the tour game, I would put it down to the fact that it was our first game on a tour, a warmup game and it was an acclimatisation process. I am confident we will play him much better than that when the real test comes. Malinga not playing is a jolt for Sri Lanka because he really troubled us a lot in the first test.

So according to me, overall good news for India

The worrying thing for India and Sri Lanka is that the three Tests are back-to-back. There are only three days for recovering their bodies. That's a bit short. Also right after the Test series the ODI series comes. India will have only two rest days then before the 1st ODI against New Zealand. Before the 2nd ODI and 3rd ODI they will have 6 days rest, but still that's a lot of cricket in a short time.

Also Jayawardene is named vice-captain of Sri Lanka.

Hey Zexy, did you know that grass is green and that the sky is blue?
