R.S : Hello and Welcome to the Presentation ceremony for the final test match between India and SouthAfrica in which, the home team clearly showed the complete domination over the visitors to level this series. Its been a fantastic series throughout with great battle between both the teams right from Match 1.

R.S : Alright, lets get into this presentation now. Firstly I like to call upon the loosing captain, Rahul Dravid.. The captain of India to come up and have few words with us.

R.S : Well Dravid, Tough luck today! What went wrong with the whole game plan after having played the first two games magnificently?

R.Dravid, Indian Skipper

dravidpressw6pm6.jpg

R.Dravid said:
Yes, this has been the toughest game of all the three. Initially, we failed to get quick wickets at regular intervals which allowed them to get a huge total. Next, our batting did not click in the first innings. If we have avoided that follow-on, probably, it would given us the better result.

R.S : After being enforced following-on, did you think that India still had chances to draw/win this game?

R.Dravid said:
Actually, there were no thoughts after that bad first innings display. We decided to concentrate and give our best and wanted to see what our total could come up to and we did that. As i said, the first innings turned the things around.

R.S : With ODI Series coming up, your thoughts?

R.Dravid said:
Its going to be interesting as well. Its never going to be easy to play against the home team always. We are looking forward to a great challenge.

R.S : Good Luck, Rahul for the upcoming games.

R.Dravid said:
Thank you, Ravi. :)

R.S : Now, before calling the SouthAfrican captain, we would like to announce the Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series awards.

Well, now its time to announce Man of the match.... We have seen some spectacular display from Gibbs from both the innings... magnificent hammering from Tendulkar in the second innings... but our MOTM for this match is, Jacques Kallis who played with complete control in both the innings and picked 5 Wickets too in first innings. Hence he is our MOTM for the fantastic all-round performance in this game.

R.S : Kallis, can you come up to collect your cheque and have few words with us.

J.Kallis, Man Of The Match.

manofthematchrw5.jpg

R.S : It was a brilliant spectacular display from you, Kallis. Congrads for this MOTM. How did you enjoy this game?

J.Kallis said:
Thanks Ravi. Yes, it was really great and enjoyable to play under these conditions. Ball was coming onto the bat nicely too. It was bit tough to play against the turn from spinners, but it became easy as well after settling in.

R.S : In first two games, things didn't turn in right way as you expected... Is this match going to help you in upcoming ODI series by triggering your confidence?

J.Kallis said:
ODIs are going to be entirely different with different situation. But still, this match is definitely going to keep me filled with complete confidence to take up the challenge against the very good inform side, India.

R.S : Thank you, Kallis. Good Luck for the upcoming ODI series as well.

J.Kallis said:
Thanks again Ravi. :)

R.S : Right, now its the time to move to next award which is Man Of The Series.

There were few close contenders for this. Tendulkar with some good fifties and final hundred yesterday... Kallis with some runs under his belt as well... Gibbs too had good series... Finally it was a close call for us to choose between Kumble, who had magnificent series with ball including those 16 wickets in first test match and Rahul Dravid, who also had magnificent series with the ball.

Finally, we came to conclusion, its going to be Rahul Dravid who managed to score 364 runs under the tough batting conditions.

R.S : So Rahul, Can you come up to stage once again please to collect your Man Of The Series award and few words with us again.

Dravid With Man Of The Series.

R.S : Congrads Rahul for this Man Of The Series. How do you feel?

Rahul Dravid said:
Thanks Ravi. Yes, this has been a fantastic tournament through out and enjoyed the challenge of batting under unusual conditions as well. It would have been even more great if we had managed to win the series here as we never have won a test series in SouthAfrica before. Overall, its been a great tournament for us from which we can take many positives and negatives to learn from.

Lastly, We were feeling great with the excellent crowd support too. Hope we get the same in ODI series as well.

R.S : Hope to see you continuing the same form in ODIs as well, Dravid.

Rahul Dravid said:
Hopefully Ravi. :)

R.S : Now, atlast, We would like to have the Victorious captain of this match, Graeme Smith on the stage please to have few words with us.

R.S : So Smith, you have finally managed to get a dominating win and level this great series. Your thoughts?

G.Smith, SA Skipper

smithpresyw8mb9.jpg

G.Smith said:
As Rahul mentioned, this has been a fantastic series through out.. And this last match was fantastic as well. We played well as a team and definitely, full credits to the entire team for their efforts which gave us the Victory in this game.

R.S : What was your thinking when you had a great score on the board in first innings?

G.Smith said:
Well, we were glad that things turned up in right way for us with the batting as we expected. Gibbs and Kallis played magnificently. After putting a huge score, we knew that pressure was going to be more on Indian side to defend this series lead. And we utilized the pressure well too. Like batting, things happened in bowling too. And with below 200 as the final target, we realized that the game was in our control.. and once again, Kallis/Gibbs did well to win this match.

R.S :And Your thoughts on upcoming ODI series?

G.Smith said:
This Victory definitely keep the contest equally balanced between both the teams. And we are looking forward to it. :)

R.S : Good Luck, Smith to the upcoming games.

G.Smith said:
Thanks Ravi. :)

R.S : Well well well, Now its the time for big thing.. The Trophy giving time... I like to call once again, both the captains, Dravid as well as Smith to come up and lift the trophy.

Dravid/Smith with Castle Lager Trophy.

A Proud Moment to both the Teams!

R.S : There you go.. the biggest moment for both the teams. They both played at their best.. and hence, both the teams rightly rewarded with this series ending up in draw, 1-1.

R.S : And That Concludes our Presentation Ceremony! Hope everyone enjoyed this entire coverage of this test match series and we would be back again to u for a Twenty 20 game and the ODI series.Till then take care & bye from the studio!

Its Time for ODI Cricket.
( Indian Squad Announced for T20/ODI Series )

Welcome back to Star Sports again to know some more news about this African Safari, i.e India's tour to SouthAfrica. The visitors have already started off in a promising way by leveling this Test series. Its to be noted that, India has never won a Test Series in SouthAfrica. So, definitely, a series draw would give some happiness to Indian fans rather than loosing a series. Also, the way in which Indian side had played the mighty SouthAfricans in the Test series is absolutely fantastic and this upcoming ODI series should be interesting.

Before going to the Indian squad details, Star Sports launches a 24 hours Cricket channel for its Viewers, " Star Cricket ".

( Star Cricket & ESPN for Twenty20/ODI series in SA )

ESPN and StarCricket have given StarSports a short break from covering the Indian Cricket. All the viewers are guaranteed to get the same enjoyment like before in StarSports. :)

Indian T20/ODI Squad Announced.

Today, after a long meeting held in India, the squad for upcoming series was announced. There were some new players making a suprise entry into the squad. And they will flying all the way to SouthAfrica immediately in a day or two. The captain and Vice Captain remain the same with Dravid and Tendulkar respectively. With World Cup coming ahead, this is going to be very crucial for those new players to rise up and shine brightly in a promising way.

Big 'Three' of Indian Team.

dravidsa1.jpg
tendulkarzl2.jpg
gangulysc3.jpg

1) Rahul Dravid ( Captain ) : He is also known as, " Mr.Dependable/Wall " of Indian team and has got to play a major role in leading the team from front. His Man of The Series in test series have raised the expectations on him from all the Indian fans even more further.

2) Sachin Tendulkar ( Vice Captain ) : Also known popularly as, " Little Master/Master Blaster ", have got to play another major role for the Team. His recent forms have been good too. Whenever the critics raise, he always have the habit of shutting them with his bat. Overall, he is going to remain as a main nightmare for SouthAfrican bowlers in upcoming T20/ODI series.

3) Sourav Ganguly : Also known as, " Prince of Kolkata/Dada, who had a great comeback during WestIndies tour and proved that he is still fit to play for the team, have yet another major role as a opener along with Sachin Tendulkar. Its to be noted that these two(Sachin/Sourav) are the best opening pairs India have got and hence there are more expectations on them to dominate the new ball.

Future 'Three' of Indian Team.

4) MS Dhoni : The Only Keeper in the entire squad have a big role to play properly in middle order. His recent knocks have revealed that he is maturing well as a specialist batsman rather than just a hitter. Expectations for Dhoni to hit SIXES, generally, are more whenever he comes to bat at the crease. ;)

5) Yuvraj Singh : He is another crucial middle order batsman. His energetic fielding as well as the heroic batting displays are main plus points for the team. His ability to play the match winning knocks(along with Dhoni, in particular) has raised the expectations from this solid middle order even further more.

6) Irfan Pathan : He is one of the players with higher expectations to perform better with the ball, especially in getting that dangerous swing which can trick any best batsmen in this world. But only question is, " Can he deliver perfectly in this tour? ". We have to wait and see what happens though. And his batting is going to be a some bonus for the team.

Young 'Three' of Indian Team.

gambhir1sh0.jpg

7) G.Gambhir : He didn't get many chances to prove his consistency, but has shown some promising abilities in limited chances given. His main role being a opener, definitely raise the doubts among everyone in his selection to TeamXI. But, can be given the crucial number 3 position too. Have to wait and see whether its going to be another limited chance series for Gambhir or the series where he is going to prove his talents.

8) R.Uthappa : Similar to Gambhir, this guy is another promising cricketer. He is also a opener. Having four openers in the squad had really raised the eyebrows of every Indian fan and making them to think, " Selectors are really the Jokers.. aren't they? ". :p But, we have to wait and see the end result though. Uthappa, like Gambhir, is also under pressure to prove his ability provided he is given a chance.

9) Rohit Sharma : Not much known about this player, because he is making ODI debut in this series. Oh yes, Debut before big WorldCup is always going to be crucial. But he has shown promising displays with bat in domestic level. He is entirely a new player to watch for Indian fans.

Waiting 'Three' of Indian Team.

rainaqr1.jpg
sehwaglm1.jpg
ajitfa6.jpg

10) Suresh Raina : He is another youngster of Indian team waiting for his chance that can turn his career too. Raina, inparticular, have played some match winning knocks in his initial part of the career but slowly got rusted. His inconsistent performance threw him back again to domestic level and now, he has got yet another vital chance to prove himself again.

11) V.Sehwag : Probably, the most laziest player of Indian team especially in moving his feet while batting. Sehwag, who has got amazing talents to make the bowlers clueless, had started to rust because of his lazy footworks. He has been inconsistently placed in squad and his Vice Captaincy was taken back too as a result of his own laziness. This is yet another golden chance for Sehwag to keep his place safe for the upcoming World Cup.

12) Ajit Agarkar : The confidence which his captain,Dravid have on him(Ajit) has given a big role for Agarkar to play in this series. Ajit's recent struggle with line and length have given lot of headaches to Indian team but his Six off a final ball in Champions Trophy against Pakistan to win the match would be remembered ever by the team. Infact, that might be another reason too for selecting him again in this ODI series.

Remaining 'Three' of Indian Team.

muralinw7.jpg
sreejt6.jpg
zaheerzj5.jpg

13) Murali Karthik : This has been a another big gamble by Indian selectors. Murali Karthik was picked ahead of key spinner, Harbhajan Singh. This means, Singh is ruled out of this series. Reason remains as a mystery. And this also applies massive pressure on Murali Karthik to perform well as he is a only spinner in the squad and likely to play in every match. Another gamble is, there is no backup specialist spinner for India incase if Karthik fails.

14) S.Sreesanth : He is better known for his aggressive approach while bowling. His only problem is, Sreesanth overdo the things often for pace and getting smashed by the opponent as a result. Sreesanth, likely to share the new ball, have big responsibilities mounted on his own shoulders in trying to get early wickets for his team as well as to prevent himself from getting smashed by opponent's top class batsmen.

15) Zaheer Khan : At last, Zaheer is going to be the main strike bowler for Indian team. His consistence with line/length recently, have given a huge boost for Indian team in pace bowling department. But still, there is huge pressure on him because, there is no back up consistent pace bowler for Indian team. This obviously means, bowling is what India has to be careful with in this series. Lets see what happens in upcoming games.

So, thats it from the studio here with all the latest news on Indian squad for upcoming games. We will be back again with all cricketing actions soon. But this time, its going to be either StarCricket or ESPN in which you are going to enjoy those actions. Stay Tuned. :)
