MS Dhoni unveils 'The Jarhead' ahead of India-Australia Test series

Kind of echoing what I said in the Phil Hughes thread, I almost hope they cancel this tour. I'm just not ready to watch cricket at the moment, and I don't think anybody is really ready to play either.

Good to see Aaron and Kohli doing well on the tour games though :)

I actually want to see the game go on. I was waiting for this series since two-three months. I hope it is a competitive series regardless of the result.

I am really worried about Virat Kohli and how he will do. Considering how he was unable to play Anderson outside the off stump in England, I'm afraid Siddle and Harris might bother him outside the off stump with those consistent lines. I do think that he has probably worked on his technique because he is a dedicated hard worker but still the doubts are there. However, he has played against Siddle and Harris three years ago and made good runs. He's simply our best batsman that we look up to. I don't really know about Pujara because he does have issues with the short ball sometimes and he's going to get a lot of it. Virat does play the short ball the best out of our team. Dhawan is his usual self, getting out for 0 in the practice game!

Potentially good news for India (no offence to Bhuvaneshwar Kumar)
India in Australia 2014-15 : Bhuvneshwar to miss first two Tests | Cricket News | Australia v India | ESPN Cricinfo

I have steadfastly argued that Bhuvi's style of bowling does not suit the tracks of Australia. With his pace, height and build, he would only suit conditions where there is swing in the air. With him missing the first two tests, it will help India field an all out pace attack. My pick for the first test would be Yadav, Ishant and Aaron although Shami for either of Aaron or Yadav also would be equally good. I am excited!

I think it's a big blow for India. Bhuvi is someone who gives that control that Dhoni likes from his bowlers. It will be exciting to see an all pace attack but they can all go for plenty. And of course Bhuvi's ability to swing the ball to provide those early wickets will also be missing. I just hope now that they don't rush him back into the team.

Bhuvi, our 4th highest run scorer and highest wicket taker in the last overseas is injured. That is NOT "potentially good news" LOL

Bhuvi's wickets in Indian conditions have shown that he can actually be dangerous with the new ball in non swinging conditions too. So saying that he would have been ineffective in Australia is highly presumptuous

Where is he going to get the swing from? Australia is not the place to get appreciable swing through the air. Its a place for "hit the deck, hurry the batsmen" type of country. Bhuvi doesnt fit either of that bill. And in a rare occasion, India has the opportunity of fielding an all out pace attack where all of the bowlers are capable of 140+ with the occasional 150+ too. Its been a sight that a lot of Indian fans have wanted to see. If either Yadav or Aaron were as experienced as Ishant and had his height (along with their own current skills), I would have wanted Yadav, Aaron and Shami to be the bowlers playing the first test. Ishant's experience and height (which accounts for the variety) tilts it towards him.

No matter what the condition or the pitch is, he will get the swing with new ball because he is a SWING bowler. And as I said in my last post, he has the most control over his bowling. He can also be a bit of a workhorse who can bowl 7 to 8 overs at once which you can't do with Aaron or Shami. He can be very useful in building the pressure to allow the bowler on the other hand to attack. Also not to forget, he quite handy with the bat at lower order. So if you are saying that his injury is not that big of a blow than I can't agree with you on that point.

Also Cricket Australia just confirmed that Virat Kohli will captain India in the first test.

The series is almost here. I am very excited to get back to watching the Indian team :D That too at a convenient time for a change for North American viewers (7pm on the East Coast)

Two Good News (No Offense) :
1. VK is going to captain the first match.
2. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar may not be playing the first match.

I don't understand the logic that Bhuvi being injured is somehow a good thing. That too based on some weird notion that the ball doesn't swing and seam in Australia, and the bowlers hurry and bounce out batsmen. Fking Nonsense.

Plenty of proof that the ball does seam and swing in Australia and Bhuvi with his guile would have been fking priceless.

Not that I am not looking forward to Aaron ripping through the Aussie line up, but the statement that there is no seam or swing in Aus and Bhuvi would thus be useless, jeez, what the hell are u guys smoking?
