India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

This "Philip Hughes" drama is getting seriously overboard. Applause at a bouncer, celebrating at 63 not out, etc is just so overboard. Don't convert him into another Princess Diana, seriously? Let's get on with life, shall we? A lot of people die everyday.

wow........

let people grieve how they want to grieve. you are nobody to question. they are harming noone.

Umm ..

I personally don't connect with the tribute thing either, but if some folks want to grieve and pay tribute to their close friend/colleague then they should be allowed to do so. It did not take away anything from the cricket viewing experience as a viewer.

I know I am no one to stop him. All I am stating is my opinion. And my opinion is, all this is drama for the media. In a way, the boards are happy to cash in on the emotion that has been generated by Hughes death. It gives a massive boost to the series, and in turn brings in money. I won't be surprised if the players have been appraised to continue with their emotions for a little longer. IMO, this is turning out to be one reality show.

wow. Since we are sharing opinions, I am of the opinion that you have an awful outlook on your fellow human beings :)

it was literally the FIRST day of the FIRST match back...

We have to hope that the tail does not wag here. This first day has ensured that this test won`t be a dull draw. India would do well to continue playing aggressively in this test match. Dhawan has to do a Warner here to set this test up.

You realize that the chances of Dhawan lasting a single over are very slim. His technique is nothing like Warner's. Warner actually moves his feet but Dhawan doesn't get forward to pace. If Australia get 450+ then I think it's going to be 0-1 even before the 5 days are over.

I just don't care if its the first day of the first match. There has been enough that has happened before this first day for them to pour all their tributes and what not. I didn't disagree to their idea of postponing the first test and rescheduling it. I feel very sorry for the family of Hughes, and pray for his soul to rest. But after all that, you got to move on. And to me, a lot of what they do looks very fake.

Shravi - I just stopped short of reporting your post because I've respected your posts a lot on PC. You are welcome to feel awful about my opinions, outlook and all, but posting "XYZ is an awful human being" is not an opinion. Its offensive.

We wasted the first new ball but can't afford to do the same with the second new ball. Bowlers did pull it back at the end of day 1 but we still need to bowl well in the first hour today and try to wrap up the tail quickly. It has always been a problem for us, giving easy runs to tailenders. If Clarke does come out to bat then they will reach 500 but if he doesn't then we have a chance. I saw Varun struggling with his hamstring, I hoe it's not too serious.

Once we come out to bat, everything will start happening on this same pitch. They will get it to swing, seam, bounce and we will probably be all out in like 150.

Back to cricket - what could have been a truly disastrous day got salvaged for us due to those late strikes. Still think Australia are truly set to make 400+ which should be more than enough for us. Johnson and company would be waiting eagerly to take a bite at us soon. We don't yet have a Dravid who can score 233 and 72 odd runs and win this test match for us (like how he did in 2003 at this very same ground).

I agree with you that it is a little overboard but it is understandable cause we are playing in Australia and he was a good player for them. I think 450+ will be 0-1 series lead to Australia in like 2.5 days time. I seriously have the slimmest hope possible, and our highest score will probably be like 150 all out.

Agree. The par score on day one at Adelaide is generally very high and you could have days like these when someone like Warner or Sehwag get going. Its been a pretty decent day otherwise. This Aussie batting will be tested in this series and we will have situations when they might be 100/5 in better bowling conditions but how well we do would depend on whether we can cash in from those situations. The bowlers could be forgiven today for losing the plot against Warner and it was commendable that we still looked for wickets at the fag end of the day. Unfortunately for India, the real challenge begins now. We have let the tail wag way too often and with Siddle, Johnson and Harris all being competent batsmen, its going to be tough to get them out below 500. It would need an inspired spell in the first hour to blow them away.

Anything below 425, I would take that as an Indian fan on this track. It could be an interesting test match yet.

Yeah. If we can bowl really well and get them out for 400 or under that will be a great effort, but I'm afraid that 354 runs is already enough for them to bowl us out comfortably. I would love to be proved wrong and Kohli is the man for us, Dhawan and Vijay need to spend time out there and I don't care if Dhawan makes 2 runs but if he spends like 60-70 bowls that would be great for Pujara and Kohli coming in after 15 or so overs instead of having them in in the 1st over itself.

You are so negative that you deserve the nickname of aditya 2 but I like that negativity. I think it will inspire the team to bat well.

Wasn't feeling it the 1st day, but I think I'll watch today's play, I was watching Polite Enquiries on Cricinfo earlier and one of the questions brought up was whether Australia would be forced to field 10 men given Clarke came into the Test with injury...[DOUBLEPOST=1418170261][/DOUBLEPOST]He's fit enough to bat, so disregard that.

Listless bowling seems to be back .. short and wide, length and wide ! And Clarke is back. 450-500 on the cards
