India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

500+ on the Cards easily!
Even Johnson can hit a centuary on this kinda bowling. And still there will be Peter Siddle.

If Kohli gets out early I'm going to stop watching this. I know India is going to have a massive job to even get a draw.

Trust India to be in the situation when the opposition get to have tonnes of runs on a gorgeous morning and on the day India are likely to bat, the weather to be overcast, rainy and difficult for batting.

Not that India have not contributed to their troubles during the little cricket that was played this morning, by doing a brilliant impression of a headless chicken incapable of having a rational thought in its head, but the difference between the conditions on the two days does need to be pointed out here.

Hear the rain has totally stopped now and the covers are coming off, with Umpires out on the field.

4 bowler strategy working its charm :D

..

wow easiest stumping chance missed

..

if we cant offer batsmen their maiden hundreds, you bet your a^^ we will offer them their highest test scores [HASHTAG]#Kindness[/HASHTAG]

I think this would be it for Australia. If there is any play today, Aus would have declared to get in India and if there is no play today, then I would be surprised if there is not an overnight declaration. I think it would be too much for Australia to go on batting tomorrow.

Depends on when play starts now. If it is still a 2 hour session, I am sure they will bat for another hour and push for another 70 runs (550) and not worry about batting again

I think the rain has done India some favors. Should play resume for 30 mins or so today (the rain has stopped), then Aus would surely like to have India in for those 30 mins. Which means that Ind would start 473 behind. Now Aus have thoroughly dominated the test so far, but 473 is not exactly the biggest first innings score in the world. 473 as far as giant first innings scores go, would be a fairly average one. So India should conditions improve tomorrow as they are expected to, should look to capitalise. All said and done in hindsight its a good thing that India had no batting to do on an overcast rainy day.

However on our bowlers just what the hell is wrong with them, and what is this obession with bowling short. Its a cloudy rainy overcast day, just pitch the ball up, bowl line and length, and let the ball do the talking. The ball was still only 10 overs old at start of play today. However this obsession with short pitch bowling, what can one say?

Anyone still think that its great Bhuvi is not playing this match for he would have been useless in these conditions.

Although as PokerAce says, India wouldn't trail by too much, I hope it rains again and this day is called off. A declaration at this stage is very dangerous for India and I could see 2-3 wickets falling today.

I don`t think Australia would be thinking about a declaration tonight. They would look to pile up whatever they can tonight and put us in early morning. An overnight declaration is what I guess, especially with 500 not exactly being an impregnable first innings total for Adelaide.

This "Philip Hughes" drama is getting seriously overboard. Applause at a bouncer, celebrating at 63 not out, etc is just so overboard. Don't convert him into another Princess Diana, seriously? Let's get on with life, shall we? A lot of people die everyday.

Back to cricket - what could have been a truly disastrous day got salvaged for us due to those late strikes. Still think Australia are truly set to make 400+ which should be more than enough for us. Johnson and company would be waiting eagerly to take a bite at us soon. We don't yet have a Dravid who can score 233 and 72 odd runs and win this test match for us (like how he did in 2003 at this very same ground).

In my opinion, you are the most insensitive moron doing the rounds over here. You wouldn't call someone's death/loss a 'drama' if it was someone close to your heart. I hope, you never have to bear that sort of grief, because the pain can be extreme. It's very easy to ask people to 'move on' sitting at home on a keyboard with a screen in front, quite another to lose someone through such a freak accident and it takes any normal human with remotely any feelings or emotions to overcome such a tragedy. Perhaps, you're childish enough to believe that the people that represent their country and entertain us for decades, aren't actually a figment of imagination or virtual players you create on a Play Station. They're humans.

I read a post of yours, where you state that the board is actually encouraging the players to fake this emotion to cash in on the series by creating more drama? I suggest, seriously recommend, that you get a better outlook towards life.

I don't know if you've ever played any form of serious cricket in life, but I have and I also know the kind camaraderie you begin to share with every individual in a dressing room. In a very short span of time, they become your family outside your family and sometimes, without realising they become a very integral part of your life. It's not expressed, but the emotion exists and it only comes out in purely jubilant moment, or very tragic ones.

Phil Hughes, was that family to all these guys. State Cricket is very pronounced in Australia and when these guys talk about the experiences they've shared, you can actually relate to it. Michael Clarke's face says the full story and the magnitude of this tragedy. I know, if I made a 50/100/63 or anything significant, and I had lost someone my own, I would dedicate everything to that person.

You have an opinion, I have one, I'm not asking you to be as emotional as some other fans or the other players, but you can be respectful by keeping your opinion to yourself at such a time and not be a jerk!

I think India are in a position where there is little for them to lose either way tomorrow morning. With a day already lost, India are clearly looking at drawing the test in all likelihood. Should Australia choose not to declare and bat on, then that would be great for India as whatever the pitch will have in it will be gone by the first 1 hr, and if the sun is out as expected, the Indian side should enjoy batting.

Right now only two results are realistically possible - Aus win and a Draw. However that could change should India bat 4-5 sessions on a road of a wicket. Long way to go, but the rain has seriously restricted Australia today.

Well it should ideally have been our bowlers who should have restricted Aus, what with them 6 down and all. However the form that our bowlers showed today, it would have been a scary day in store had a full day's play gone ahead, with Aus around 700 runs.

BTW forgot to ask, thoughts on Kohli's leadership in the first innings? Personally I think he got a big break yesterday when the second new ball in those 10 overs led to three wickets falling. However apart from that spell he has been seemingly distinctly average and let the game slip.

The reason I say this is not to slate Kohli, however there has been a lot of debate on whether MSD should go or not, especially after the Eng series. I had maintained that MSD must stay as its not his fault the team lost, but rather the team is not good enough to win overseas yet. Some however felt it was MSD's doing and he must go and Kohli take over. So based on the sample so far which side are you leaning on, and has anyone changed their thoughts on the issue.
