that's not the point. india requested access to proper practice pitches, and were denied.

the pitches weren't intended to be used to simulate match situations by the indian team, just to get the arms and feet moving.

According to a Gabba official the pitches they requested to use weren't ready for use yet. Be a bit of a joke if a test side couldn't use the nets because they were being reserved for Big Bash cowboy cricket.

Dhawan needs to get runs quickly because there are not enough wickets left to hang around, but he needs to be a little bit more sensible with his shot selection. There is aggressive, and then there is needlessly risky.

How long are we going to hold out the DRS? The difference between the two sides in this test, not for the first time either has been the runs scored by the tail. We should`ve at least been in the game at this stage and had no right being this far behind, considering the situation we were in after the first hour yesterday. How quickly has the game gone away? The result in the end would look like a complete annhilation by Australia but it was hardly that in the first half of the test match. Thats what is making it hard to swallow.

How headless is our tail? Pathetic application from our tail, especially when they`ve had to work so hard to get the opposition tail out. These are little things that turn these games around. As someone pointed out earlier, our overseas cricket has been pretty alright apart from the results. Thats mainly because we have lost the big moments. Moments when we could`ve held on and the games could`ve turned in our favor but we tend to miss those. We should`ve had at least 4-5 test wins to show from these tours to SA/NZ/Eng/Aus yet we have just that solitary win at Lords to show for it. We`ve not been blown away like Australia have been in India/UAE or like we were during our last tour to Australia. Yet, the scoreline is`nt any different. The reason is our inability to get the tail out. When we were winning those test matches at Jo`burg or Perth or Nottingham, we had Kumble who could run through the tail.

For once, we have bowlers with pace but still struggle to get the tail out owing to some ridiculous tactics of bowling short. Our tail on the other and just want to swing wildly and gift wickets.
