India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

Lol! These Aussie bowlers just be like, dominate with ball and dominate with the bat. Let them declare their innings, and wait.:facepalm Harris to get his best individual from here.

Indeed. Third game of this series we have failed to take advantage of a good position.

I don't want to start a thing again, but Dhoni was pretty bad this morning. Somehow everyone except MSD can figure out that we are better off not bowling a barrage of shorts balls and bouncers. All wickets we have had off pacers are caught behind. Should replace Fletcher with a statistician who can provide these obvious stats to MSD

Yes I do agree with you that Dhoni was bad this morning. I don't understand this short ball crap, just get your bowlers to pitch the freaking ball up on the fifth stump line. Ishant just has no capacity to learn, this is the third time he is in Australia but still can't bowl a decent line and length. Every single ball he bowls is back of a length and the batsman are playing him off the backfoot. He needs to quit bowling like an idiot and get them driving, what does he not understand about that. I am pretty sure that if we told a bunch of six year old kids to bowl a full length delivery on the fifth stump line, they could probably do it more consistently than Ishant. Can someone please contact the BCCI and let them know that the reason why we can't win test matches overseas is because our bowlers fail to pitch the bowl up consistently on pitches where you need to get the batsman driving, which is why we can't take 20 wickets because 5 balls in an over are being defended off the backfoot.[DOUBLEPOST=1419652409][/DOUBLEPOST]Does anyone think the test match might turn out to be another one like Adelaide? Where we might get 350 to chase on the final day of deteriorating pitch? Or are there greater chances of India getting all out twice in this Australian 1st innings total? I think the latter is more likely.

We will be lucky if it turns out to be another Adelaide. The next 2 hours will give a good indication on where the game is headed

I want to see Pujara come good and score a hundred. No.3 is a prestigious position in Test cricket. Its been a while since he got a ton. Last was his brilliant ton at the Wanderers

I require my lone spinner to be capable of doing both overseas, stem the run flow when needed and take wickets when there's spin on offer.

Sorry to say. IMO, you would make for a very defensive captain should you persist with your lead spinner and ask him to only contain. Containing once in a while is alright. But, the fact is Ashwin contains in every match and the wicket-taking ability is what is lacking.

You mentioned Amit Mishra. Honestly tell me, has he been given adequate chances ? Give him a complete series-say around 4 games in a row and then if he fails, dont select him further. Discarding Mishra was a wrong choice. I'd still say give him a chance and see how he performs.

I'd consider myself pragmatic rather than defensive, I really don't see what's wrong with asking your spinner to contain on days 1-3 outside Asia and attack on days 4-5 with the pitch deteriorating, the fact of the matter is whenever there's been a pitch with some turn on offer during our current run of away Tests Ashwin has been on the bench, Jo'burg, Trent Bridge and Adelaide to name some examples.

He could've been given more chances, except Ashwin broke onto the scene and did better than him in home Tests consistently, but regardless Mishra only looked good in 1 series vs Australia in 2008 I think it was, the rest he was either dreadful or even worse.

Dhawan's weird form continues. Looked brilliant until offering up that catch to the slips

Another 50 run opening partnership though. That had become a rarity overseas

Wow after all the discussion yesterday on how poor our bowling is, I thought there is no way India are batting before lunch, so I may as well sleep and tune in post lunch around 7:30 in the morning. Turns out I overslept and the plan still worked. What were the bowlers doing this morning. I checked the scorecard, Harris 74 !! Haddin 55 !!

I would guess they all believed they had overnight transformed into a mix of Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar and can bounce out anyone. So probably there was a lot of short pitched bowling on display, probably none of the deliveries going above the shoulder height and probably the balls being thrown around on both sides of the wicket, making field setting impossible.

As for the India reply, India live and die by the first 5 batsmen, one of whom got another 28 and went back. Its irritating the kinda run Dhwan is having. Scores just enough to not be dropped every innings. On the bright side another 50 run parternship is a great thing. We went almost a whole year without one of those.

Vijay has become one of the most consistant openers India have had in 5 years or so, and is a gigantic plus. If we find another then we will be halfway there to becoming a good side overseas again. Adding Bhuvi to the bowling line up would be another great plus. I do see the pluses start to come in now. Although our fast bowling remains one gigantic let down. How to win a test match with this bowling is a task no one should have to think of.

Vijay batting India back into this match, with Kohli still to come. Australia won't win this game easily, but I just don't think India have the bowling attack to be able to win a match this series.
