India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

someone needs to tell MS that this is test match cricket.

Completely unnecessary. But the inexperience was there for all to see. When you are dropped the previous ball, you play it down to get back some control. Wonder why on earth he choose another shot the very next ball? Was it a ploy to slog his way out of debut nervous-ness?

This was some serious opportunity to cash in on some useful debut runs, with the wicket playing good.

By the way, brilliant knock from Rahane. I think there is a strong case for Rahane or Kohli to move up the order to No.3 in place of Pujara. A stronger No.3 will help India, and might also give Pujara the hunger to work out his game.[DOUBLEPOST=1419745747][/DOUBLEPOST]
Wow did he follow Kohli's advice? :p

Well, he didn't allow Kohli to come in and give advice coz he was gone the very next ball.

Kohli needs to stay in there. But will the rest allow him to maneuver the innings?

That Dhoni shot shows that they have been clear instructions to go after the bowling. Perhaps, Rahul should have waited an over or so, get the idea of the pitch and then start opening his hands. His inexperience did him in. Predetermination don't work at test level especially in Australia.

That said, why is India even trying to press the scoring? They're going at a good rate and we are still over a hundred runs behind. Not the best time to start playing aggressive shots. We might actually end up being 50 short.

Still waiting on the hawk-eye for the Rahane dismissal, Channel 9 taking their time.

That's what happens when you watch Rahane and Kohli make it look easy as hell for a full session.

I think I agree with this. Rahul just got too carried away watching Rahane and Kohli cart Johnson and co. around as if they were net bowlers.[DOUBLEPOST=1419745911][/DOUBLEPOST]
Bats in Rohit's spot. Bats like Rohit.

Oh oh oh... That was just his debut innings. Give him time!

Great knock from Rahane and he played an excellent role in attacking the opposition. Kohli too supported him well.

Rahul threw away his wicket and didnt value it at all. MSD looks to be in the same vein. On the other hand, it could be a strategy- Go out and attack as we already have the Aussies on the backfoot. If India matches the Aussie total, it will be a great match. What I dont want here is the Indians collapsing in the span of the next 20-30 runs.

Let's not forget, Rahane did something similar in his debut Test vs Australia at Delhi too.

I'd rather give Rahul a few more chances than get in Rohit immediately. What I'd like to see from Rohit is some sort of form -wherein he ought to play for an Aussie State/ English county.

MSD's batting is looking horrible. Ugly to be precise. If he isn't comfortable with this brand of cricket- he ought to simply go for his shots.

Some Rough Patches have been created in the pitch which will definitely be a part of the 3rd & 4th innings. Hope Ash gets some dust outta it.

I dont think Rahul will get the 4th test if He fails in the 2nd Innings too with Raina knocking Playing XI's door.

If Ashwin goes too, then Kohli has got to go for it all guns blazing, and maybe get the lead down to about 50.
