India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

This is where experience so matters, as this side plays more they will learn that advantage built over one session can be quickly lost in the next, and one wicket can often lead to two, especially if the next batsmen if hell bent on committing cricketing suicide, as KL Rahul was. However this is where a winning run will help the side. One more match to go, and then we can take the rebuilding to the next level.

That was a bad shot to end another extraordinary innings from Kohli! He did indulge in some unnecessary drama with Johnson.
.

You didnt Talk About that Unnecessary Throw By Johnson......

I liked it that he answered it with his Bat ... :D

I actually got to feel for our bowlers that the other side has been able to make most of only one chance but they themselves couldn't stop a team from scoring 530 when that team had been 216/5 at one stage.

hate dharmasena

Why ?

Rahane was clearly out. Dharmasena did not give a wrong decision.

Anyone else loving Matty Haydos' commentary? He is brilliant coming up with great 'explanations' and is funny and is mostly adding something to the game/point of topic.

Ha ha ha...I liked the part when he was explaining the jealousy factor. Honestly, Matty Hayden is a great commentator. I quite like the current team of commentators put forth by Star, though Ravi Shastri would have been an added plus.

Interesting choice of words. Remember he was the only one who stood up in England when all around him were betraying him? He like anyone else is allowed a few failures.

Honestly don't look at the small picture. The results matter, but the rebuilding matters a lot more. We had a mega generation playing. Sadly the rebuilding process has come during the phase of the four toughest tours there are in Cricket for an Asian side. However look how far we have come from last year in SA, when we had no openers to speak of, no middle order, and we didn't know how Pujara, Kohli and Rahane would perform, whether they would perform. We had a whole batting line up to find, and 1 year later we are nearly there. Thats good rebuilding effort.

The results will come. A few more pieces to go, especially bowling. Patience, rebuilding is not done at the drop of a hat.
Playing Pathetically when the batsman at the Non-Strike is thrashing the opposite is none less than betraying.
There is no doubt in the fact that Dhoni is the man who did the team building work but can You put him in the list of the likes of McCullum , Smith , Mathews , Misbah , Amla batting wise? Even Ramdin is doing a decent job in the tests.

By the way who is this Lokesh rahul ? Never heard of him...
Also, why was he selected over Suresh Raina ? :facepalm

I think out of all the countries that have played against johnson in the past year, we have played him the best. Watchful and aggressive at times, england just couldn't play the short ball and they paid the price against johnson and us at lords. We saw how bad they are at playing the short ball. I think our team plays the short ball the best in the world now even though in the past we were the worst.
Maybe we have played well but the kind of Mitch who played against England was hell lotta different than the Johnson playing in this series.

"winning an lbw verdict from Kumar Dharmasena against a sweeping Rahane, though replays suggested the ball had not straightened enough to flick off stump"

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane's fluent centuries prop up India | Cricket News | Australia v India | ESPN Cricinfo

anyone seeing the replays would have said a ball pitching on off stump was not turning back in as sharp as dhrmasena thought.

He was performing great in the Ranji Trophy(2nd highest scorer).MoM in the final and scored ton in both innings in Duleep Trophy final. Not sure who is better among the two but sure that Rahul is a composed and calm personality who is good to play long innings.

Rahul is a better nudger of the ball with predominantly leg side play. Good thing is he's good at playing with a straight bat. Maybe he needs to open the innings if he plays the next match. Opening with him in second innings can be suicidal for India if Rahul fails on a reasonably turning pitch on day 5.

He got an edge to a ball that moved away, what is so pathetic about that. Ppl do get out you know.

Also when was MSD ever supposed to be a pure test batsman, that you are comparing him to pure technically correct batsmen like Smith, Misbah and Amla. He has in tests always been the keeper who can contribute lower down the order and show resistance. His prime job is in ODIs as the Keeping All-rounder batsman. Tests don't suit MSD's style of batting, and frankly no one expects him to be an Amla, he doesn't have the technique. Even so an avg of 38 for a no. 7 batsman in tests is quite phoenomenol dont you think.

'Playing pathetically' actually doesn't mean 'being out pathetically' and I hope he meant the same thing. Dhoni was really going pathetic as usually. He's more likely a circus man in white costumes with a wooden piece in his hand which doesn't really work for him when playing overseas.
