India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

Maybe we have played well but the kind of Mitch who played against England was hell lotta different than the Johnson playing in this series.

I don't really think England handles pace and bounce well. They had poor techniques against Johnson and they weren't ducking when they needed to or taking on the pull shot when they needed too. The Johnson is not different but it's just I think we have prepared really well before the series in tackling short balls with high pace. We have also left a lot of good balls as well. We saw how England couldn't handle the short stuff against Ishant Sharma at Lords and that was at a lower pace than Johnson and they still couldn't tackle him.[DOUBLEPOST=1419781181][/DOUBLEPOST]Does anything think the game is headed towards an Adelaide type finish?

simple india are troubled more by swing than bounce as evident from performances in SA, nz and aus. So practicaly anderson in ENG is more dangerous than johnson in aus.[DOUBLEPOST=1419781344][/DOUBLEPOST]also MSD is using the technique that worked in eng here .. but due to pace and bounce here he is being beaten, he needs to shelve that walking across as there is no need for it as there is not much lateral movement or swing..he just needs to play his normal backfoot game and will be alright.

"winning an lbw verdict from Kumar Dharmasena against a sweeping Rahane, though replays suggested the ball had not straightened enough to flick off stump"

anyone seeing the replays would have said a ball pitching on off stump was not turning back in as sharp as dhrmasena thought.

I hated that dismissal, but I immediately went up with my finger pointing upwards when Lyon struck Rahane on his backleg. It looked plumb to me with the naked eye. So I am not going to question Dharmasena on that decision.

The ball hit the back leg. If you saw that in real-time, many would say that it seemed not out. On slow-mo, one can clearly see the ball hit Rahane's back leg and hit him right in the center. From what I saw, I agree with Dharmasena.

England handles it better than India for sure.

They handle seam and swing movement better but not raw pace. If you go back and watch some of the Ashes highlights from last year, the English batsman couldn't even take Johnson on and when they tried to they failed. They couldn't even handle Ishant Sharma's short pitch stuff at Lords let alone Johnson. I think the whole Australian team would agree with me that India has actually competed and played Johnson the best out of all touring teams in Australia recently.

You are absolutely right. We find the swing hard to play against more than the pace and bounce. The english handle swing really good but can't play against pace and bounce in Australia.

Need some inspired bowling now - Only need to look as far as Adelaide 2003 for Sir. Aggy's match winning exploits

From the opening few overs, India have been truly horrible. Won't be surprised if India are set a 400+ total by end of day today itself. Warner is already smashing ahead. And the generous short pitched bowling which doesn't trouble the Aussies at all, is being dished out by our bowlers.

The entertainment yesterday (Rahane-Kohli partnership) was good while it lasted. Regular services resume!

To be honest, it was only Umesh who was horrid in his 3 overs. Ishant, Shami and now Ashwin have bowled quite well. There is nothing in the wicket though

If only we had another proper spinner
