India's tour of West Indies - July/August 2016

I might be wrong, but I for one want to see Rahane/Kohli at 3 and 4. Shikhar Dhawan can't bat to save his life when it's decking around and like I said before the first test, keeping Rahul out is criminal. Vijay has proven himself with runs all over the world and I think him and Rahul are excellent at the top. I think in my two decades of watching test cricket (India) I finally see potential of a brilliant opening pair. Kohli at 3 and Rahane at 4 would my preferred choice. India could do with a good number 5 and optional number 6.

Just on a side note, Rahane now has hundreds all over the test playing countries bar SA and Bangladesh and at those two places he has a HS of above 90. Looks to me like in this new 'era' after the fab 4, we have found the first finished product.

How can an opener have such a low average?
Are you saying Chandrika shouldn't be in the team? I'd agree. There needs to be a better opener better than Chandrika to support Kraigg Brathwaite. Though we can see what he can produce in the next few tests. Even his first class average is low

When Vijay comes back, I'd rather have KL Rahul bat at 3. Pujara seems a little out of touch. He has got starts(his last five scores in Test cricket were 21, 31, 14, 28, and 16) but hasn't really converted. Perhaps he just might play the Third test. But I'd rather Rahul at 3. Seems more confident and in touch than Pujara

Yes it's too low for an international opener

Charles has the worse technique I've ever seen and would be 10x worse then any other opener besides Fletcher...

Great comeback by West Indies. India need one break and the match can change back. But need it quickly

A great performance by Chase. It's a shame it won't result in a victory.

Captain shake hands. It's a draw.
Wow. Great batting display by windies. Hope they carry this performance to the next match too and it would be interesting to watch. Being an Indian fan, not happy with this draw. Hope we win the rest of the matches.[DOUBLEPOST=1470260081][/DOUBLEPOST]

Actually they probably are more than happy to end this match in a draw. Victory was out of equation.

Rain Saved Windies .

That is some effort by West Indies to come out and save the match. I watched morning session a little bit and noticed few things. Blackwood plays the best when he comes out with this aggressive approach. Some really clean hits against spinners and showed positive intent. Roston Chase looked really solid and probably the most solid batsman I have seen in this series from West Indies which is amazing for a guy who is just playing his 2nd test.

On India, the pitch today didn't seem like Day 5 pitch. There wasn't much turn and variable bounce in the surface. We could have won the match if it wasn't for rain yesterday
but you can't control the weather. The most disappointing part of the morning session was Amit Mishra. He was very poor in the first inning and what I saw in the morning session, he looked absolutely rubbish. I have noticed this a lot with Mishra when someone goes after him, he becomes a completely different bowler. Just goes defensive and starts bowling really bad lines. I don't know how he bowled in the afternoon and evening session but if the morning session is anything to go by, I would definitely like to Jadeja in the next game instead of Mishra.

Also at one point Kohli was so frustrated, he had a real go at Roston Chase which was not good to watch. Kohli is no more a member but he is the captain of Indian team. Being aggressive is good but showing aggression when there is absolutely no point of doing so was not good to see. Good to see some fight from West Indies, hopefully the next two matches are more competitive.

Bad result for India and first setback for Kohli. Couldn't really push through for the win against some inexperienced players. Hope they learn from this. Better teams will switch things around for the opposite, if we play this way.

I still hope we can win more than 1 test and get out of here with a better result than the last series win we had in the Carribean. It would be awful if we come out with only a 1-0 series win as that's what Dhoni and co. did last time against a better WI side.

Honestly, look at his average in first class .20.46!. :facepalm T20 cricket is different from test cricket. You need concentration in Test cricket, while in t20 all you do is hit out. Anyway, why is Chris Gayle not there for West Indies duty? What about Andre Fletcher? He's a much better player or even Shai Hope can come back. Leon Johnson? There is many openers out there.
