I am going to run a League/Story featuring the 9 Test nations playing cricket in 1992.
I will simulate the games using Lambourne Games International Cricket, and IC Helper.
I want to find managers for the 9 Test Nations, and create an alternate cricket history from 1991/2 onwards, how far we get depends on interest, but I will commit to continuing as long as we have enough interested managers.
I will create the tours and schedules, and I'll ask managers to select their XI's for each match.
There will also be warm up games during tours, featuring other Test players who were playing List A or First Class cricket at the time.
Managers will have full control over their International XI and 'A' team for Tests, ODIs, and warmup matches, while I will select county XI's and such for other warmup matches.
Unfortunately, only Test players are carded for IC, but you will find that includes pretty much all the big name stars playing at the time anyway, so I doubt you'll miss anyone too much.
I will list the players available for each teams International matches during any given season, along with any reserves playing top level cricket at the time.
For some teams such as England, this includes a lot of players, owing to selection policies and lengths of careers and amount of matches played.
I would ask that you try to use your imagination a bit when it comes to picking your team and not just pick the players with the best average each time with the sole intention of winning.
You will find all players have different strengths and weaknesses, and are worth their place in the team under certain conditions, with weaker Test players First Class and ODI stats taken into account in their ratings to give them a boost.
Fielding is also an important ability in this game, with Wicket Keepers rated for their ability standing up and standing back, and Fielders rated for ground fielding and catching.
Pitch and Weather conditions are also very important in this game, and can make the difference between winning and losing, as in real cricket, and something which the game engine captures well.
Injuries will also play a part, both during matches, and before games.
I will run a dedicated blog for soley this league on blogspot.com.au, featuring full scorecards, match reports, and photos.
I will post potted scores and match reports with links to the blog in this thread on the Planetcricket forum, along with comments and discussion on the league with managers.
All gossip and team selection will take place in this forum, with the blog merely covering the league's match and statistical reports.
Signups are now open, just state your interest and preference for a team and I will add you to the list below.
Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe still require managers if anyone is interested in joining.
