Is Andrew Flintoff a one series wonder?

not sure yet about flintoff

Whats there not to be sure about? No way is he a one series wonder! I would bring in the stats but Andrew's done that already. The fact that JarryD has made these comments shows how little he seems know about cricket and is jealous that Flintoff isn't Australian...

This is a pathetic statement by a bitter aussie (no offense to any of you bar jarryd)

Flintoff is clearly not a one series wonder, and is one of the best players in the world!

This thread sickens me, and it takes a lot.

Yep Vaughan sure is a ONE series wonder:

Pakistan in England, 2001 - (ave. 55.33)
England in India, 2001/02 - (ave. 53.00)
Sri Lanka in England, 2002 - (ave. 71.25)
India in England, 2002 - (ave. 102.50)
The Ashes (Aus/Eng) in Australia, 2002/03 - (ave. 63.30)
England in Bangladesh, 2003/04 - (ave. 69.33) OK... so its Bangladesh but still...
The Wisden Trophy (Eng/WI) in England, 200 - (ave. 55.00)
Bangladesh in England, 2005 - (ave. 82.00)

Just cos Vaughan had a bad Ashes doesnt mean that erases all his past series (except the Ashes out here last time) Vaughan is better than some people think.

Flintoff is not a one series wonder...he is right there at the top now..its just that we are so used to an english media that overrates its players, that we are kinda wary accepting it too soon...

heck, graham hick was called "modern day's bradman"...

At the end of the 2002/03 Ashes series he averaged 50.93- since then, his average has been steadily dropping to the point where it is now, 43.81. In that period he's averaged 38.07- take out Bangladesh and that makes 34.57 over the 30 real Tests he's played after that series finished.

But anyway, not making the thread about Vaughan- Flintoff is a superb cricketer who developed from an average player to the best all rounder in the world, and has proved himself over a lot more than the last Ashes series. The media hype is getting ridiculous though

My point originally was that he is not a ONE series wonder, but yeh a lot of captains' batting averages drop when they are awarded the captaincy as they have more to think about and have added pressure on them.

Id rather hear about Freddie Flintoff than David Beckham to be honest.

One of Vaughans key attributes is when he passes fifty he allmost always goes on to make a 100. There are only 3/4 batsmen in the history of the game who have a better conversion rate than Vaughan. Bradman, headley and someone else.

Yeh that is pretty phenomenal... in fact everytime(except once in which he made 58) he passes fifty against Australia he goes on to make atleast 150(154 his lowest score of over fifty(except the 58)

Flintoff is a one day wonder, I'm sure that in the future he will become one of the best cricketers, and a legend, just like Botham.

I meant that he has the potential to be a one series wonder but i definately dont think that will happen. I think he will keep getting better and better and hell be one of the best players in the world for a long time to come.
