Is cricket suffering from depression?

Agreed, and Wimbledon starts over here this week too. All we need is a good tennis player and we'd be a pretty successful multi-sport country! As long as England do well against Pakistan, the general public will be happy.
Seems like the English have finally realized that Henman won't do it. Hopefully I won't be biting my tongue in 2 weeks, though.

I don't think you will be biting your tongue, Henman has got more chance of winning Wimbledon, than Tim Bresnan has got of winning the 'Best Cricketer Ever' award! But I think this is getting slightly off-topic now! :p

actually, it is the case with all the countries.
even in India, football has hogged the limelight more than cricket eventhough our side is not at the World Cup.
just a momentary thing , at least in India.

Well in Australia State of Origin is a big event in possibly our biggest sport, Rugby League and judging from what I saw everyone was more interested in the Soccer World Cup instead of watching SOS.

(Sorry this is off-topic it is just that I would like to share this with you.)

As per ESPN, India has the third highest demand for Football in the whole of Asia.

It isnt as big as cricket, but has increased a lot over the past few years. (Atleast that was the case when I was there)

I'd love to be watching more cricket but I dont have Sky TV. I'm going to the Saturday ODI and that will be all I really get to see. I think that has been a factor. Not everyone wants to pay ?40 per month for this service when Criclet is the only thing they are interested in watching.

Also, with England cricket team missing about 8 of it's top player, people may lose interest slightly, they want to watch the big starts (all of which are in USA having physio!).

Football is, the second most watched sport in India ,but mostly only an urban phenomenon unlike cricket which has as many pundits in the rural areas as in the cities.
