The opening pair of Wood and Sayers make good progress and its not until just after 12:30 that Kent get their first breakthrough. Patel bowls Wood for 44 and Yorkshire are 73/1.

Day 1 -2nd Session

Lehmann is next to go when he is bowled by Henderson for 26.

w4dy2.jpg

He is swiftly followed by Gale who is runout for a duck after facing only 1 ball.

Day 1 -3rd Session

Brophy and McGrath put on a reasonable partnership after tea but with the score on 177 Brophy tries to reverse sweep Patel with disasterous concequences.

McGrath follows Brophy back to the pavilion when he fails to offer a shot and Cook bowls him for 35.

w7bx6.jpg

Yorkshire have the jitters and Dawson is runout for a duck.

w8dt6.jpg

Shahzad and Hoggard take the score past 200 before Shahzad is bowled by Patel.

w9sk0.jpg

Gillespie walks to the crease with a little over 15 minutes to go in the days play and the pair make it to the last ball before stumps before Hoggard falls. He's very unlucky, Khan bowls a short ball and Hoggard tries to take evasive action but the ball hits his glove and Patel shows panther like reflexes to take the catch.

Day 2 -1st Session

Kent get off to a terrible start when Gillespie traps Walker LBW with the third ball of the innings.

w1tn6.jpg

For the second time in as many matches Kent are reduced to 0 for 2 when Fulton edges to Lehmann in the second over.

w2qi6.jpg

Key and van Jaarsveld are delighted when in the third over the rain arrives. Gillespie and Hoggard were causing havoc and managed to get far more out of the pitch in 2 overs than Kent managed in Yorkshire's entire innings.

ouch, kent in a bit of trouble, great bowling performance after their good start

Day 2 -2nd Session

The rain clears and play gets underway at around 2pm. Key and van Jaarsveld decide there is only one way to deal with Hoggard and Gillespie and thats to attack them. They are aproaching their fifty partnership when Key edges to Brophy, ironically not playing an attacking shot.

w3qh3.jpg

Martin van Jaarsveld continues and brings up his half century in double quick time.

mvj50qw2.jpg

He fails go go on and make a really big score though and is caught for 61.

w4xd2.jpg

Jones and Dexter are at the crease together and the pair take the score to 150 before Shahzad gets his first wicket.

w5os3.jpg

Kent go in at tea 45 runs behind, with the score at 167/5. They will be looking to pass Yorkshire's total and turn a terrible start into a small first innings lead.

gojo50ql1.jpg

His new partner at the crease, Henderson, is less fortunate and knicks one back onto his stumps for a duck.

Patel comes to the crease and the pair pass Yorkshire's total when Patel edges between the slips for four runs.

edgehm6.jpg

He is not so lucky a few balls later, this time Wood does his superman impression and takes the catch.

w8qn0.jpg

Cook doesn't hang around for long and caught with just 1 run on the board.

w9cp0.jpg

Jones is set on reaching his hundred though and blasts his way to 90. Unfortunatley for him, Khan clips a ball straight into the hands of Gillespie and Kent are all out for 252, with a first innings lead of 40.

Day 3 -1st Session

Cook and Henderson open the days bowling for Kent and as in the first innings the Kent pace bowlers are struggling to get anything from the pitch. It's not until the introduction of Patel that Kent take their first wicket of the innings.

w1xm1.jpg

57/0 quickly becomes 57/2 when Sayers leaves a ball from Walker that looks to be going down legside, unfortunatley for him, and to the delight of the Kent part-time bowler, it drifts back in and clips the stumps.

w2zs8.jpg

Lehmann fails to make an impression second time around and is caught by Fulton for just 2 runs.

w3fm9.jpg

At lunch Yorkshire are 73/3.

w5is0.jpg

Gale is bowled by Walker with the score on 105, but Gale escapes as the umpire signals a no ball. The next wicket isn't too far off though. Patel bowls Brophy for 2 and Yorkshire are 113/6.

w6xd4.jpg
