Story Kent in the Twenty20 (C2004)

Following Kent's domination of the Southern Division. Werthers have anounced 2 extra twenty20 games will take place at Canterbury this season. They will be played to raise money for Help the Aged.

Kent will play in both matches and their opponents will be Pakistan and an International XI.

Team News:

Andrew Hall has left Kent to join up with the South African team in time for their tour of Sri Lanka and is replaced by Dwayne Bravo.
Martin Saggers will play this game in an attempt to test his fitness, having played only 1 C&G match for Kent so far this season.
Geraint Jones has been released by the ECB for this match to gain some batting practice.
Rob Ferley will also be given a run out this match as Kent choose to rest veteran spinner Min Patel.
For Pakistan Shoaib Akhtar will also make a welcome return as he recovers from injury.

On a bright sunny day Rob Key wins the toss and puts Pakistan into bat.

I get the feeling that you have added this part to your story thread because you want to show off the Pakistan kit you have made! Anyway, you've dominated the competition so far but if you beat Pakistan or the International team you are either very good or cheating!

I just needed something to fill it out, now there arent so many games. The wierd thing is I used to always get smashed around the park in one day games but suddenly I cant make teams attack even if I try.

Edit: A change in AI patch seems to have done it. I might need to use different patches for batting and bowling now though. I'll see how it goes with these matches.

Pakistan Innings 1st Over

Kent favourite Martin Saggers opens the bowling for Kent and its not the best of starts as Salman Butt smashes him for four. A couple of balls later though Butt gives away his wicket.

Shoaib Malik strolls to the crease and smacks 2 fours in 2 balls. Its been a mixed first over for Pakistan as they finish on 12/1

Pakistan Innings 2nd Over

Henderson is bowling for Kent and Afridi hits him all over the place with 2 sixes and a four. 28/1

Pakistan Innings 3rd Over

Afridi really looks up for it and he smashes Saggers for 2 more sixes.

Saggers gets his man though and Afridi is out!

At the end of the 3rd over Pakistan are flying along on 41/2.

Pakistan Innings 4th Over

Shoaib Malik continues the Pakistan onslaught and hits a four.

Mohammad Yousuf joins in with the second four of the over.

The 50 is up and Pakistan look on their way to a huge total.

Pakistan Innings 5th Over

Saggers is continuing for a third over and Mohammad Yousuf hits him for 2 more fours as 10 runs are scored this over. 60/2

Pakistan Innings 6th Over

Stevens replaces Henderson but will wish he didn't as Mohammad Yousuf its him for 2 big sixes.

Its 73/2 at the end of the over.

Pakistan Innings 7th Over

Its Saggers final over and its a relativley good one for Kent with just the one six being scored. 80/2

Pakistan Innings 8th Over

The Mohammad Yousuf onslaught continues with yet another six.

Kent look powerless to stop this attack as the score moves on to 87/2

Pakistan Innings 9th Over

Rob Ferley is replacing Saggers but the result is the same. Yousuf hits him for six off the first ball

He hits another six and four later in the over as the score passes 100. Its 104/2

Pakistan Innings 10th Over

Mohammad Yousuf smashes another four.

Then he celebrates his 50 with a single.

At the halfway point of the innings Pakistan are on 110/2.

Ferley strikes and Malik is out for 27.

A good over for Kent only 3 runs from it and a wicket. Its 113/3 now.

Inzamam-ul-Haq smashes 2 sixes from the bowling of Stevens as normal service resumes. 127/3.

Pakistan Innings 13th Over

Ferley is hit for four my Mohammad Yousuf

Then Inzamam-ul-Haq adds a six and a four as the score rolls on to 143/3

Pakistan Innings 14th Over

Tredwell is replacing Stevens an immediatley bowls Inzi

Younis Khan comes to the crease and hits 2 fours, taking the total past 150. The over ends on 153/4.

Pakistan Innings 15th Over

Ferley is hit around the park again this over. Mohammad Yousuf hits a six and a four.

Younis Khan hits him for four too as the score bounces along quite nicely to 168/4. Pakistan look on course for a huge total now.

Pakistan Innings 16th Over

Mohammad Yousuf adds to his tally with 2 sixes and a four this over. tredwell will be wishing he stayed in bed this morning. Its 187/4 at the end of the over.

Pakistan Innings 17th Over

Dwayne Bravo replaces the luckless Ferley and gets the same treatment as Mohammad Yousuf hits him for 2 sixes this over. Kent look powerless to stop him. The score passes the 200 mark.

Pakistan Innings 18th Over

Henderson returns for his final spell and gets the wicket of Younis Khan.

Razzaq keeps the score moving with a four and at the end of the over its 209/5

Pakistan Innings 19th Over

Razzaq adds another four before he is caught from Bravo's bowling. Its 215/6 now.

Pakistan Innings Final Over

Henderson is bowling the final over and he keeps Mohammad Yousuf from scoring a century. Yousuf ends on 98 not out as only 4 singles are scored from the over and the innings closes on 219/6.

Kent's reply starts brightly but mostly because Akhtar bowls a shambles of an over. Dexter only scores 1 boundary but the score at the end of the over is 16/0.

Kent Innings 2nd Over

Naved-ul-Hassan is bowling and Dexter scores another boundary this over.

Kent are keeping right on the required runrate and the over ends on 22/0.

Another four for Dexter this over and Kent end on 29/0

Razzaq is replacing Akhtar. Walker hits a four. Next ball he is very lucky and is dropped! It looked like a very simple catch too! Pakistan are made to pay for their mistake as he hits a six off the last ball of the over to take the score to 101/1.

Shoib Malik is bowling for Pakistan now. Stevens hits a six followed by a four.

Rob Key manages the only four of the over.

Martin van Jarsveld's stay at the crease was a short one. He only contributes 7 runs and at the end of the over its 146/4.

Twenty20 expert Tyrone Henderson is facing Malik this over and he only manages a single boundary to take the score to 153/4.

There is a moment of madness this over and Key is almost runout but he just crosses the line in time.

In reality Kent were thrashed by 9 wickets by Finals day regulars Leicestershire.
