IPL Lalit Modi sacked

Just came across a very interesting article:

The Telegraph - Calcutta (Kolkata) | Nation | Franchise murmurs against Modi

Income tax officials said that during his interrogation at his suite in Four Seasons Hotel, Modi?s reaction to a Delhi Daredevils vs Chennai Super Kings match was extraordinary.

?We were in the middle of questioning when he (Modi) got a message saying that CSK had lost to Delhi Daredevils,? said the income tax source.

Modi shot up from his chair on getting the news, said the source. ?He looked very nervous and covered his face with his hands and asked for a glass of water. His hand was trembling as he drank up. Then he asked for a five-minute break,? said the tax official.

The official said Modi then reportedly called up a Delhi number and shouted at the person on the other side. ?This can?t happen. This was not supposed to happen,? the official quoted Modi as saying.

The official?s version could not be independently verified with Modi.

I need not tell you about the implication of the quoted part, right?

All I can say to all the fanboys out there who said how great this man was for cricket and India is, I told you so. India, the IPL and to a larger extent, cricket itself, is going to end up looking rather stupid. I really cannot believe this man was allowed to get so powerful :noway

I know all politics has a bit of corruption, but if this is the case, India really needs a shake up of its political system especially if it wants to be come a major power in the world. They won't get anywhere with its own officials doing back-hand deals etc

Well money automatically brings power. His whole family was associated with IPL in some way.

Government should really start taxing BCCI for all the wealth it has. That will be at least 50% of what salaried people give in tax.

Hopefully, the guys at the top will learn a lesson from this Modi episode and nip in bud the rise of any such faggots in the future.

But as I stated earlier, Modi is just the tip of a huge iceberg. The issue has spread way beyond Modi and India now, and rumours are rife that there are a huge number of other influential individuals of multiple countries involved in this matter. The government really needs to order a transparent probe to bring their names to light. Otherwise, it will injustice done to every fan of this sport.

I don't trust Kolkatta press when it comes to BCCI.

The ICC anti corruption committee themselves have been tracking the IPL since the beginning. So I think any match fixing thoughts can be thrown out.

Lol @ Lalit Modi being a convicted felon in the US. Did not know that, lucky for him he is so ugly otherwise he would have been ***** while he served those 2 years

You guys are taking it too far. I'm no Modi fan but give me a break, he has somehow managed to build an empire that is as large as the IPL. It is good for cricket, who cares if there is money involved. Is money not a big part of every other huge sport in the world? Why not cricket?

Its not a question of money being involved, its whether or not there is corruption.

Its not about money. Its about evading tax money, using black money in cricket and giving unfair advantage to some when it came to rights. IPL will be big even without Modi.

As if it has never happened in India before...:sarcasm Almost every single person in India has black money. The black economy in India is larger than the economy of Europe, that is why India was barely affected by the global recession.

I think it is bad, yeah, and he should be punished...severely. But he isn't as evil/the devil/crazy and what not as people describe him.
