I never though I would ever captain Lancashire or England captian for that matter"
"We have some good players with a lot of potential."
"I hope I can help them."

The now former captain Mark Chilton told us that he is a deserving replacement.
"Freddie has captain England and done it well in the absents of Vaughan.
"Its only right he should be captian."
"I also think he can help the young all rounders coming through the ranks".

Lancashire Vs Somerset
Frizzell County Championship Division 2

Toss:
toss18na.png

Lancashire captian Andrew Flintoff has won the toss and elected to bat first
Pitch looks lormal no uneven bounce so the new ball is crucial for Somerset.
Although there is not a cloud in the sky meaning there should be not a lot of swing.
If the Lancashire batsmen get there is a big score to be had.

Lancashire Batting Line-up
Mark Chilton
Ian Sutcliffe
Brad Hodge
Andrew Symonds
Runako Morton
Andrew Flintoff (C)
Luke Sutton (WK)
Domanic Cork
Pyush Chawla
Muttiah Muralitharan
James Anderson

i think Chawla is lucky to play with murali!!!

Lancashire make solid start at lunch

Lancashire
Sutcliffe 37 (99)
Chilton 24 (69)

Somerset
McLean 6/1/14/0
Blackwell 8/1/13/0

Caddick 6/1/14/0
Johnson 8/1/26/0

Lancashire make a non fluent but safe start.
Only scoring 5 boundries between them Lancashire were just happy to bat the first session.
The Somerset bowlers bowled well but couldn't get a breakthrough.
I suppose Lancashire would want to bat out another session while Somerset will be wanting a few wickets before Lancashire start putting there foot on the gas.

Blackwell gets the breakthrough

Lancashire
Sutcliffe 45 (105)
Hodge 0 (2)

Somerset

McLean 7/1/18/0
Blackwell 9/2/13/1

Chilton 24 (71) c Gazzard b Blackwell
Mark Chilton tried to drive a ball which was to wide.
Getting an thin outside edge through to the keeper Gazzard.
Hodge will have to play him self in and bulid another partnership.
Somerset will want to get into the middle-lower order.
P.S Forgot the Wicket pictures sorry :brickwall

Blackwell always play an important allrounder role!!!

mate, also small tip......
I played Somerset for two years...infact still playing.....

1) Blackwell plays well in both batting and bowling.
2)R.Johnson is the best Somerset bowler i have ever played with.... Try opening with Johnson... he has got 150 plus wickets in one season..... So try Johnson and Mclean as opening and i also found Caddick effective in no3 bowler especially in ODIs (but i played in ICC though...So it will be more intersting C2005)

Gud Luck mate with Somerset. I enjoy this!!!
Cheers
Surendar

Appologies mate... got little excited with Somerset.... :upray

Sutcliffe registers 50

Lancashire
Sutcliffe 53 (114)
Hodge 2 (8)
Its been a good innings from Ian Sutcliffe.
Played very sedate in the first session but he has come out with intensions here hitting 2 beautiful cover drives of Richard Johnson.
He must go on to get to three figures to give Lancashire command of the game.

Hodge smashes his way to 50

Lancashire
Hodge 51 (59
Sutcliffe 73 (168)

Somerset
Blackwell 19/2/56/1
McLean 11/1/36/0

Brad Hodge looking in very good touch moves onto 50 off only 57 balls
Ian Sutcliffe meanwhile has crawled his way to 73.
Somerset are gonna need 2 quick wickets to get back into this game.

Sutcliffe goes at the stroke of tea

Lancashire
Hodge 73 (80)
Symonds 2 (7)
193/2

Somerset
Johnson 15/2/62/0
Caddick 22/2/66/2

Extras: 26

Ian Sutcliffe made was out just before lunch fishing outside off stump to Ian Blackwell and would have been disappointed not to go on to a century.
Symonds had some scares before lunch, playing and missing a few times.
He will have to play himself in again build a partnership with fellow Aussie Brad Hodge who now 70 off 78 balls will be looking for his century.
Lancs have a good middle order with Morton and Flintoff to come.
Somerset will have to get some early wickets and get into the lower order.
