Pakistan's batsmen compiled a mammoth 526 in the first innings, that too batting on a lively track which suited bowlers.
The New Zealanders found it hard to face Imran Khan who bowled with pace and accuracy to collect 5 wickets in the match. He constantly kept pressure from one end which allowed the bowlers from the other end to pick easy wickets on a few occasions. His batting was also useful as he played a fine hand scoring 52 in a 115-run partnership with Wasim Akram.
New Zealand who were under pressure due to their lacklustre bowling performance couldn't repeat what their opposition did and were forced to follow on which made them switch to match saving tactics.
They were successful in getting away with a draw when Pakistan needed to chase an impossible 102 off just 1 over.
