Making bowling more enjoyable, seeing weather/pitch effects etc. - invitation to playtest

Okay so I just played a T20 with a custom team vs England. All players physical abilitues were set to minimum except for strength which was 4 from full and arm speed which was also 4 from full. Everyone's mentality was brute. I definantly think this made the batsmen a touch more aggressive. For the first time I saw batsmem double stepping and swinging at almost everything. Didnt bowl for the whole match but when I did bowl it was very enjoyable. I think slowly raising all the physical attributes will help so I will continue testing different physical attributes to find the best combination.

I also had a really good batting experience with my players FINALLY clearing the boundaries and I won my first DBC PS4 match by 2 wickets.

18 Pages in , and BA are still shining in their total absence .....

Hopefully Patch 3 is imminent.
Yeah, we know that its gonna come but they should atleast keep us in touch with "Patch almost ready to roll" or "Needs more tweaking"...

The worrisome thing about this is that many have sold the game when they havent seen the best possible gameplay of the game, this might affect the sales in the future saying that the patch takes a long long time to roll on to the consoles...I might be wrong on this but I am seeing so many sell their copies of the game without even seeing the result of patch#3...

Given that apart from gameplay tweaks, Patch 3 adds Co-op play, then it should be a positive for sales overall, given how that is a priority feature for pretty much everyone who doesn't post on here (normal people I suppose)

Of course part of that would be if somehow the publishers could do a decent job of promoting that new feature - something that would have been much easier if Patch 3 aligned with the PS4/Xbox One release and the reviews for it could double as publicity for the co-op being added to the old consoles as well.

If someone new to the game just buys it because of cricket fan, he might not even know that the patch is coming for the game for both co-op and gameplay tweaks, maybe they should make a way to adding a "register the game feature" somewhere where legit gamers interact with BA guys other than PC maybe facebook, so that they are aware of what's happening with the game and what all can be expected off it...Not all follow DBC 14 on FB so making them to register with their ID on that page will make it easy for them to keep them on the track with the game....

A small FB and PC button on the game menu like manual that just takes to a sign up page with description about game would get folks who are not on here to follow game updates.

Yeah something should be done regarding that, people should know about the game updates all the time, so such things should be done to fill the gap between BA and buyers/gamers....I feel bad that a few have sold without the game at its best possible expected after Patch....

If you want to make bowling more enjoyable, you could do worse than spin up Brian Lara International Cricket 2005.. It just shows how far we've regressed in terms of gameplay here..

I've just played a match with

- AI batsman batting according to their ability
- Variable pitch conditions having an effect on gameplay.
- Batsman low on confidence gaining confidence and that having an effect on their runscoring ability.
- Bowler confidence
- Fielders with different attributes according to their ability.

It's depressing playing a game now ten years old with all the cartoon graphics, but I just realised I've spent 733 hours in DBC, and I haven't actually had much fun.

Saying that, I'm going to give this weakling setup a go. Can't do any harm, and DBC still looks and feels exquisite to play.

I'm spectating a game on Pro mode, green, soft pitch, with the weaklings v weaklings setup. I always spectate so I can do something else and it takes away the bias in how I play the game.

I've just seen my first stumping. Weaklings are 89/1 off 20.

The absolutely major issue is how the tailenders behave and that they do not hit flawless centuries. Crack this and I will give you the keys to whatever city.

I loved the reverse swing bowled and the awkward tailender batting animations in BLC 05...

Yes, ironically the one thing that stops me enjoying DBC14 is too extreme in BLIC 2005.

Update 176/1 off 46

Big Ant have mentioned enough times that they really don't optimise for that spectating mode - sure there's AI vs AI play as a component of career mode, so it's something that needs work - but given the flaw is acknowledged, I don't see the point spectating on a match with the altered teams and then coming to conclusions, it's a separate issue.

Okay, well I'll try a test on pro and having a bowl.. First i want to see if the tailender bug is sorted with these changed attributes.. We all have differing abilities at this game though, that was my thought..

Also, I've had a read through the thread, but have we come to a consensus about the style of batsman having any effect? (brute, precise etc.)

It wasn't in my experience, but this might help - I haven't tried it yet
Yeah the tailender's issue seems to be a difficult one to fix although my tactic of spin with an attacking field from one end and pace with a defensive field from the other has been working for me. It can often take quite a few overs but generally I get the last 4 wickets for under 60 runs.
