What Colin said. It is actually best to claim it now than to claim after the cop has investigated you. You've already given out your role but, claiming it won't do any harm.

Well, yeah I'm the miller, which to me means there is a cop.

So to me that means a miller, cop, 2 mafia... and then? I can't help but think a miller means there could be an independent role?

For example, I'd suggest one of the two people keen for me to claim could be dodgy because they want to confirm that there could be a cop, and not waste a night kill on me all in one action.

I also felt that despite being told to 'play safely' in the original role message, that in reality my claiming could benefit town more than mafia as we at least have narrowed it down to 6 people before potential night actions and if there is a kill and successful investigation we are down to 6 people with 3 cleared... if there is another town role, we'd potentially be in an awesome position. So maybe there is just a cop, otherwise we'd be overpowered?

Not entirely sure, each time a new role is introduced, I'm basically a newbie again

yea fair enough good call to claim out early PD. I will never be 100% convinced but its tricky position for you to be in.

atm I would love to lynch someone randomly, because despite the disadvantages it atleast gets us started somewhere.

Like I said the only time I was miller I played it this way. I think referring to people who were keen for you to claim might be a red herring as it was already obvious to any experienced player what you were doing and everyone playing this game is experienced.

Do you think the mafia might be blind again like in the last game? Think I see Zhuorb's logic, and a lynch makes sense. Prepared to hammer anyone really at this stage.

He's not said much, so I could be prepared to put a lynch on Hedger and build up some pressure.

Well I doubt that as that pretty much means 4 vanilla, so I'd probably assume a doc or maybe a bodyguard instead, and maybe even another power role to make up for the miller which can be a liability to the town.

I'd also not like to discount the possibilty that PD is mafia and claiming miller early just in case he gets investigated although as a miller, it's safer claiming early so atm, I believe him, plus the way he's said there would be a cop.

Anyway, Zhuorb pushing to use a mislynch which is fine on day 1 which is likely the only time we'll have one, but before any discussion actually takes place? It just seems very scummy as he did last game, no lynching straight after the cop dies, just because it was MYLO. Just because we have a mislynch, doesn't mean we have to use it, and certainly not until some discussion has taken place. And especially his reasoning that I must have pleaded for Aditya to give me a mafia role... Well first of all, I hate being mafia so if I was going to plead, it'd be for a town role of some sort, and secondly, all roles are given out randomly so really your point is nothing, more just any reason you can think of to lynch me, and hopefully get a mislynch wasted on me so it can be LYLO for you as mafia tomorrow.

And PD, I haven't been on since I made my first post since I've had school and I felt really sick yesterday afternoon and just slept instead so sorry about that but I'll try to be more active now. And I'll again mention how much I hate day 1's because I just have to

I find Pd's claim believable for now, especially because it was what I actually expected after his reply to my post. I'll not confirm you as a townie though, as you could also be easily bluffing, with your mafia partner helping you out. As I always say, things will resolve themselves as the game progresses.

That post confuses me. You're saying that since he wants a lynch, he should decide who we waste a mislynch on? Especially since he hasn't really given off any town vibes.

I think we should discuss some more (Aditya, extend the deadlines another 24 hours at least), and then maybe come to a consensus whether we have enough info to use our mislynch or whether we just nl for reports, then we can nl again tomorrow if we want to since we either can use two no lynches for more reports or we can waste a mislynch but there's not really much point in doing the latter if we're going to get nowhere from it if we lynch a townie, except put suspicion on the person who tried starting the mislynch who could well be townie anyway.

The danger is that in our urgency to lynch someone we force town power roles to claim and the mafia can pick them off at night.
I understand Zhuorb's logic but we can damage the town quite a lot if we're not careful.

There's already one claim from PD but, that's not to do with pressure applied on him. I believe his claim. I'm sure no mafia would take a risk to come out and claim a Miller especially as we don't know which roles are in the game. That's what I've so far. PD is cleared for me.

I joked about you pleading to Aditya, you took it seriously and started defending yourself on basis of that? Extra cautious eh? And yes, part of my lynch on you is due to that back-stab. You tweaking betrayer.

This is quite a sneaky post. I feel you are trying to lynch Zhuorb at this point by asking him to point fingers at someone else. I dont know exactly what but something seems wrong here.

I'd say cryptic. I was just trying to gauge Zhuorb's response by asking a straightforward question in a cryptic and perhaps aggressive way. If he wants to lynch somebody on Day 1, does he have someone on his mind now? Or he wants to do it randomly? If yes, then he himself can be the randomly chosen one, right?

And I'm not quite impressed by your reaction, especially with your assumption that I am trying to get you lynched, despite the after my post. You've already made the assumption that 'nobody wants any sort of lynch' while we're just intent on discussing and see if we can find any faintly reasonable reasons to lynch someone and use our mislynch, because if we can't, it all comes to randomness and at least I don't prefer lynching randomly. As Colin and Hedger said, we still have to be careful with the mislynch. You just need to see much more deeper than just 'we need a Day 1 lynch'.

Just picked it off from the same quote. So before lynching anyone, you want them to claim Zhuorb? So what if their claim is reasonable? We pick off another player to lynch, given that we have to use our mislynch? And yet if they are a power role? We pressure another player, and so on? And by the end of Day 1, we have a mass claim already. That actually makes me suspicious of you, although I wasn't until now. Was that a Freudian slip? I don't think you're an inexperienced player....

I understand your lynch, BKB. I deliberately made that cryptic (or as you say, sneaky) but I didn't expect this response from Zhuorb.
