Mumbai Indians - #BestOfTheBest

Buttler vs Simmons. No contest.
Simmons is a good opener and can bat well even in this conditions. He proved that with his performance in last IPL.Butler isn't an opener, but a big hitter lower down the order which we already have in Pollard. Also he hasn;t proved himself well in Indian conditions. So Simmons over Butler given the conditions.

Simmons is a terrific opener, there's no doubt. But, he just waste many deliveries in the middle overs. Otherwise he's totally reliable as an opener, and since he's had been key to our strong openings lately, he has to be kept in the best XI. Also, inclusion of McClenaghan would be important. Last season neither Bumrah nor Kumar did well in earlier few games and some other poor combinations unfortunately led to the four games losing streak as soon as tour began. So an extra oversea bowler is important and trust, McClenaghan is really very good in T20s. And with Pandya, Chand and Patel all in good form recently, there's actually a little need to depend on oversea batsmen. So that means the same old oversea unit that was experimented in the later half of the last season and which eventually worked, should be retained. This is how I'd lineup -

:os: Simmons
:local: Patel
:local: Sharma
:local: Pandya
:local: Rayudu
:os: Pollard
:local: Harbhajan
:local: Suchith/Gopal
:os: Malinga
:os: McClenaghan
:os: Bumrah

If Vinay Kumar shows up his good, it should be made 2 Indian pace bowlers alongside Malinga or McClenaghan (depends on who's in bad touch). But Kumar has to deliver his 'very' good actually, in the practice sessions before start of the tournament. Only in that case, Anderson and Buttler will get some hope. I'll go for Buttler indeed.

I think Malinga's injury is a bug blow for us(if stays long). So Southee may be in the best XI.

Seems like this will be a tough season. We're going to miss Malinga (don't know for how long or the whole season), and then we know our home games might be moved out of Wankhede. Half the men from our prominent XI are very used to the wicket of Wankhede. They know everything about it. If that unfortunate thing happens and if we have to play all our home games at a different venue, that would be a big woe. At last, thanks to Ambani's business that we have a team filled with match winners!

Besides that matter, here's how I'd like to lineup for today's game:

:os: Simmons
:local: Rohit
:local: Rayudu
:os: Pollard
:local: Pandya
:os: Buttler
:local: Bhajji
:local: K Pandya
:local: V Kumar
:os: McClenaghan
:local: Bumrah

Lots depends on Bumrah, McClenaghan and Harbhajan (and Kumar as well, but that's all of us :p). Also, K Pandya should be a good bowler too; I haven't seen him play but his stats are pretty cool. Considering some people's batting form in the other side, our this bowling unit has chances to do well despite missing Lasith Malinga. And we are a heavyweights of batting, we keep the abilities to chase any target as world cup's finalists would do.

Are you planning to fail or something? I know that's your opinion, but, with Malinga we have played 5 proper bowlers till last year. And without him you want to decline that fifth bowler? See, we don't really need that sort of long batting lineup at Wankhede. So, an extra bowler should be included I suppose. Pandya & Corey are not a good choice fifth bowlers (at least they wouldn't be at Wankhede). If they have to bowl between 11-20 ov, and if opponent have so many wickets to spare, their batsmen will hammer the shit out of those two. Pitch will assist the batsmen anyway. Harbhajan can bat too; remember the 19 balls half-century. So he's our last proper batsman. I mean, option of bowling all overs from specialists is a must thing to do knowing how the pitch at Wankhede act.

Also, at the 6th position, I'll choose Buttler over Anderson. He's probably the best finisher in our side this year. Corey is just a one game gem.

Yea you are right but If to replace Butler I would choose Southee because we have enough big hitters already and that would be the fifth bowler too :)

So we lost against RPS(RisingPuneSuperGiants) , we are known as slow starter but does that means that we should always start by loosing 4-5 matches? Mumbai should bounce back in the next match, Everytime the miracle can't be repeated
