This is what I am thinking. They need someone to take over Pollard to let that smooth transition happen.

On to David, it's pretty much a new challenge for him to play in the IPL. Also, I don't think he has played enough in conditions where spinners can run the game.

From what I saw in the game against the Capitals, David has got enormous power to clear the ropes. And he does it quite comfortably too! I think we can still think of batting him ahead of Pollard for few games and see where he heads.

Considering we won't be having mega auctions next season we can look ahead to MI having this line-up

Sanjay Yadav should be given a few games at seven. Can hit the ball hard and can bowl some useful part-time deliveries. Which is why I do believe they need a world class overseas all-rounder, the sort who can bat in the top six and bowl all four overs if and when needed. Does such a man exist in today’s cricket field though? Are they better served trying to develop the next upcoming overseas talent like the Sri Lankan U19 captain?

Stokes is possibly the most overrated middle-order T20 batsman at the moment.

Sam Curran would be lovely though, a rich man’s Daniel Sams if you will.

Thing with Stokes is he plays so little T20 he's never defined a specific role. Gets tried in different places. If Mumbai had a specific role for him in mind I think it'd be more likely to work.

Other options, long-term at least: Harry Brook. He has de Villiers level numbers in the last couple of years in the Squiggly Fast Five. I suppose they have spent on Brevis as a long term option as an overseas batter.

I don't think Thampi has done badly. So would want to back him. Unadkat should replace Mills. Allen/David/Sanjay Yadav in place of Sams.

Mills is our leading wicket taker, I can't see him dropped.

Having Unadkat and Mills together can be a recipe of disaster considering both are similar kind of bowlers. But what makes Undakat a better choice is his ability to keep it tight in conditions that are dry. Tbh UAE conditions don't offer the kind of bounce and hence he struggled.
