Story Mumbai Indians - Duniya Hila Denge Hum!!! - Bangalore in Deep Trouble

I read long updates of stories that are a good to read, too bad the best stories are the ones with less updates, like yours, Covvy's and Surens :(

You are a minority my friend. People like you are what story writers need more of. Back in day there were many of your species but they have since died out. Shan spent a lot of hours of writing for little response in his Liverpool story so I don't blame him for going down the less work route for this story.

Three golden ducks for the IPL leaders, not a good day at the office.

Mumbai Indians storm to 88-run victory

Dwayne Bravo smashes a huge six of Praveen Kumar

Mumbai Indians' progress to 172 for 7 was often tortuous and ragged, but the value of perseverance was illustrated as the bowlers made short work of Bangalore Royal Challengers on a sluggish pitch where batsmen rarely felt at ease. While it was the slow bowlers that starred for Royal Challengers, the fast men did the damage early on for Mumbai Indians, with the new-ball duo of Zaheer Khan and Lasith Malinga once again outstanding.

Bangalore Royal Challengers were left to reflect on both some ordinary shot selection and the final phase of the Mumbai Indians innings, when Dwayne Bravo and Ambati Rayudu hustled the runs that had been at a premium as the batsmen struggled in the middle overs. Their own reply started poorly, with Jacques Kallis trapped leg before in Zaheer Khan's second over. And after the spirited Robin Uthappa clattered two fours in Malinga's second over, the bowler exacted retribution in the best possible fashion, having Virat Kohli caught at third man before getting Robin Uthappa leg before with an express yorker.

That over set the tone, and when Kevin Pietersen was given leg before to Zaheer Khan, Bangalore were sinking fast. Mumbai Indians' bowlers were backed up by some terrific fielding as well, with Sachin Tendulkar's throw from deep midwicket catching Ross Taylor short of his crease, and a superb wrong one from Harbhajan Singh got the better of Rahul Dravid. Harbhajan later knocked over Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar, each for six. Mark Boucher's effort was terminated by Pollard and Dwayne Bravo then mopped up the last wicket as Royal Challengers Bangalore subsided to 84.

Earlier, Bravo's 38-ball 64 saved Mumbai Indians blushes after a Scrooge-like opening spell from Abhimanyu Mithun and some clever slow bowling on a sluggish pitch had sucked the momentum out of their innings. Mumbai Indians made a decent start, but lost Tendulkar in the fourth over of the innings, leg before to Mithun. Chadan Madan stroked a couple of boundaries, but wth Jean Paul Duminy a bit slow, Mumbai Indians were never able to impose their will on the proceedings.

Their plight got worse when Madan fell in similar fashion to Tendulkar to the same bowler. Bangalore could have built on that even further, had Boucher not fluffed a run-out chance against Dwayne Bravo, before putting down a routine catch off Anil Kumble. Kumble conceded 39 with his legspin, but the other slow bowlers showed much better control as Mumbai Indians' batsmen were kept on a leash. Duminy was the first to lose his patience, charging Kumble to see his stumps rearranged.

Ambayti Rayudu came in and build a quick partnership with Dwayne Bravo - who was getting back to his best form, but Mumbai Indians were left to rely entirely on singles and twos against the slower bowlers. Kevin Pietersen finally got Dwayne Brovo caught at midwicket by Praveen Kumar, and soon got rid of Abhishek Nayar of the first ball. Virat Kohli like Pietersen picked two wickets in three balls, first Kieron Pollard for a duck and later Harbhajan Singh caught by skipper Kumble at long on. Dhawal Kulkarni and Rayudu added 18 of the last 8 balls including two fours and six.

First time any other opening batsman except the openers get the batting from Mumbai Inidans.:D
BTW, well played Mumbai.
poor Bangalore.:p

Good work by Harbhajan and Bravo! Well done Mumbai!

Utterly dominating performance by the Mumbai Indians. A solid innings from Bravo led the Mumbai onslaught and other batsman played a vital knocks as well. It was the opposite case for the RCB as only 2 men could make it to double figures. Superb bowling by Mumbai's bowlers as well

Gauti-Viru guide Delhi to victory

Gautam Gambhir named the Man of the Match for his brilliant batting

Delhi Daredevils stormed to a 10-wicket win against Deccan Chargers at Cuttack as Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag knocked off the 158 runs required in less than 17 overs. Gambhir belted 78 off 48 balls, while Sehwag hit three sixes in his 76 to continue a rich run of form. Delhi Daredevils' display in the field set up the victory as they didn't let Deccan Chargers build momentum. VVS Laxman hit 60 and Rohit Sharma scored 56 but the support from other bastman proved a problem. Ashish Nehra produced an economical four overs to finish with 2 for 20.

Awesome batting by the daredevils.
Viru - Gauti simply rocked the show! It's an impossible task for any team to clinch victory when these two get going. :)

Kings XI Punjab edge a thriller

Karan Goel made a 55-ball 79 for Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab prevailed by one run in a thrilling game against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Channai. Chasing 168 for victory, Chennai Super Kings faltered at the start but were propped up by the middle order, Michael Hussey (49 n.o) and MS Dhoni (49) leading the recovery. But in a see-saw game, Chennai lost MS Dhoni before Michael Hussey accelerated his innings and Subramanium Badrinath added 15 to bring their team within just one run of Kings XI Punjab's score. Earlier, opener Karan Goel had smacked 79 to take Kings XI Punjab to a total they just about managed to defend.

Bond impresses in Kolkata rout

Shane Bond ended with figures of 2-13

Kolkata Knight Riders brought their campaign back on track with a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, with 46 balls to spare. After some good bowling, in particular by Shane Bond, some very aggressive batting by Brendon McCullum and Cheteshwar Pujara guided them home.

The weather was mainly overcast, but with light clouds, as Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and put Mumbai Indians in to bat. Sanath Jayasuriya hit one spectacular boundary, almost a six, over backward point before being bowled with the total at 22 in the second over. Ajantha Mendis, the mysterious spinner from Sri Lanka was introduced as early in the third over and he was given a warn welcome by the 'Little Master' Sachin Tendulkar by smashing him over long on for a huge six.

Tendulkar, was run out for 17, and then Ambati Rayudu was given leg before of Shane Bond for one. After five overs the score was a worrying 28 for 3. Worse was to come as the man of the match from the last game Dywane Bravo, trying to loft Ishant Sharma for a huge one, failed to connect with the ball and was given leg before for just 7.

Jean Paul Duminy fought back with some good strokes, driving one of Sharma's little seamers for six. Madan and Duminy kept going, running ten singles off successive deliveries, followed by a two, but even so Mumbai Indians only managed 97 for four wickets after 18 overs. Later Angelo Matthews added some salt on their wounds with his last delivary, full length, he clean bowled Chandan Madan for 27. Bond bowled superbly to take 2 for 13 in his four overs, conceding just two of the last over, while Duminy finished unbeaten with 43 off 55 balls. Mumbai Indians would indeed have been in a sorry state without him.

It looked like a dull, uncompetitive match, but many teams in the Indian Premier League have got themselves into some trouble through lack of urgency when chasing small targets. Mumbai Indians struck early, as the Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ganguly pulled half-heartedly at his second ball and hit a low catch to midwicket. The bowler, Zaheer Khan, struck again in his next ball, as Harshad Khadiwale gave a simple catch to mid on, and Kolkata Knight Riders were now 0 for 2. But this was to be the only brief period of the match when Mumbai Indians held out any hopes of victory.

The terminator, Harbhajan Singh received a round of applause when he came on to bowl the sixth over, with Kolkata Knight Riders 41 for 2. Zaheer Khan like other bowlers was also hammered to all parts of the ground at the other end and finished his overs with 2 for 36. At the 10-over mark Kolkata Knight Riders were 89 for 2, with both McCullum and Pujara being aggressive.

As they approached the target, Mumbai Indians wilted badly in the field, and a couple of difficult chances either went down or were not attempted. And a flick by Pujara to the leg boundary in the 12th over saw Kolkata Knight Riders home comfortably. He finished on 57 off 34 balls, and McCullum 51 off 38; their match-winning partnership added 114. Apart from Duminy and Zaheer Khan, Mumbai Indians have little positive to take from this match and will have to pull themselves together seriously to compete against the other team in the league.

Well batted Delhi openers. They took the game away from the Chargers easily. Unlucky CSK missed out and with Hussey on the crease it is very unlikely that CSK didnt win. Mumbai lose their first game, and honestly with that performance you do deserve to lose. McCullum and Pujara showed exactly how to bat on these conditions!
