Muralitharan vs Bishan Singh Bedi - 'Chucking' War

He also hates Dhoni and takes a dig at him every single time he has a chance to do so.
He makes useless suggestions, which is what irritates me...

He once said, ?I have always believed that the Indian team?s coach has to be Indian. This mercenary nonsense has to stop some time.?
It may be his belief, but in that case he has been proven wrong at least twice. Any fan of Indian cricket cannot deny the positives brought in by Gary Kirsten and John Wright.

As a Sri Lankan, I feel very offended by claims made about Murali of ICC bending the rules to suit him (15 degree law). I thank u for standing for Murali and I think I need to add to the point that u r making.
The only bowl that was in question was his doosra (11 degrees something). And he was not allowed to bowl that. However, during this time, ICC made an investigation and found out that 23 contemporary bowlers were also bending beyond 10 degrees to 14 degrees. Among them were Shoaib Akthar, Bret Lee, Jason Gillespie etc.. as I remember. Since the rule was old too, they amended and extended to 15 degrees.

Im a bit late to this conversation seeing as it started 4 years ago but as someone who was in the crowd that shameful day Murali was called during the boxing day test it has always bothered me. And anytime I bring up my thoughts on it amongst my fellow Australians im howled down.

My initial thoughts (and im quite possibly wrong) was that the (old) rule said something vague along the lines of you cant straighten your arm if you've bent it during delivery. Which as we know with Murali's funky elbow was never truly what he did. However my argument the whole time all this 15 degrees bullshit was going on was on the side of what benefit does bending the elbow give a bowler?
A spinner, in particular Murali, gets basically no real benefit from a bend in the elbow. Murali's greatest weapon was his supple wrist enabling him to do all sorts of weird stuff.
On the other side of the coin what does a fast bowler that bends or flexes
his elbow gain? An extra foot or two of speed? Extra bounce? To me, that's a far greater advantage than one any spinner could gain.
Did the likes of Lee, Gillespie, Akhtar get dragged through the mud with a massive asterix next to their name during their careers?
The whole episode is shameful and i've always felt for poor Murali.
