New Zealand Domestic Season

It probably deserves its own thread ahead of some of the other threads on the cricket discussion page.

Greatbatch was never really going to take the team forward, so hopefully Wright will be able to do it.

The sad thing is yet again we're more or less just building towards a world cup four years down the track, as he's not really going to be able to change much in two months.

Good to see Vettori gone as the selector as well, what a joke that was.

Yea, wasn't sure if this really needed a thread so stuck it in here.

Vettori already had so much on his plate already without being selector. Hopefully that will allow him to focus more on his captaincy and his game. Overall a good move by NZC. But like Callum said, two months isn't a lot of time to change a lot of things in time for the World Cup.

In the end I think it's really up to the players to take charge of their performances. The coaching staff are there to help them but they aren't the ones playing. Let's hope the changes off field will impact the show on field.

It could be a mental thing though, and 2 months should be plenty to change that. They see they have a new coach that they look up to and respect and work harder, concentrate more, feel better about themselves, etc.

I really hope for Wrights sake we get a few wins, because hes a really good coach but its going to be quite hard to change the attitude of guys like McCullum. I have a feeling its not going to work out but good luck to him anyway.

You seem to have an irrational hatred against McCullum. I wouldn't say he has an attitude problem. I'm certain he enjoys playing for New Zealand and he does his best on the pitch. There are many factors to consider when asking why NZ are doing so poorly. Poor form, application and shot selection come into play. Could have also been the coaching staff although the onus is still on the players themselves.

We collapsed after Gibbs and Wilson got out... :(

Went to the Aces match today, my first match at Colin Maiden Park, I definitely prefer the Eden Park 2, not really sure why.

Good to get the win, and Northern to lose, because that means even if they win their catch-up game, we'll still be ahead by two points I think.

Good to see Ryder back to more or less his best as well.

Yea good to see Auckland still at the top of the table.

I like them both. It's about 30 mins to both grounds (even though Eden Park is a bit further away, you're on the motorway most of the time.) I should probably head down and catch a game. I've only been there when it's empty. Is it free?

Na, I got free tickets though.
Like 20 bucks for adults.

I live right next to Eden Park, so yeah.

There was just no atmosphere there really at all, despite having a pretty big crowd for a domestic match. No Mexican Waves or anything, and they didn't have any stands at all, it would have been good if they brought in some temporary seating.

I know, wtf aye.
It's domestic cricket, the matches at Eden Park were mainly free. (I have passed into the adult price bracket since then though)

I got free tickets anyway, I wouldn't of gone if I had to pay that, considering the international T20 at Eden Park is only two bucks more for west or east stand.

well last year, you could play on the outfield in between innings and after the game get to talk and get autographs of all the players, plus you could sit right on the ropes if you weren't blocking the add boards.

I remember last year Styris hit the ball straight into the sun and neither George Worker or me and my friends saw the ball, the ball landed just over the rope and George Worker lost his balance and landed right on top of my friend :lol

i wish that game was televised :p

20 bucks! Might have to reconsider.

too late now, that was the last match, unless you want to go to the Pakistan/Auckland match which'll probably be free. btw its 17 bucks if it matters :p

You could do most of that today, but that really appeals to the younger people, who pay like five bucks to get in.

And wtf was up with us not being able to leave at half time, we wanted to go out and go to Macca's, but they said we wouldn't be allowed back in, first time that's ever happened to me in-between innings at a cricket match. :facepalm

At this rate we'll be hosting the final... :spy

The Pakistan match is only 10 buck for adults, I think.

pack your own food or go to McDonalds before the match and bring it in without the packaging. :D

i must say that the food at the ground is bloody expensive though.

At this rate we'll be hosting the final...

nah, the run-rate will come back and haunt us it'll most likely be a ND final.

Still, we should be able to leave in the middle if we wish, and be allowed to come back in. We had our tickets and everything.

At first we though the guy was BS, and were about the walk out, then we realised he was being serious.

We just have to win our final two games, then we'll finish first, as we're six points ahead ATM, so even if ND win their catch-up game, we'll still be on-top.
